Lot18 introduces “The Lord of the Rings” wines

Limited-edition collection features four varietals

Lot18 Lord of the Rings
December 19, 2017

New York-based Winemaker Lot18 has teamed up with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, a Burbank, Calif.-based Warner Bros. Entertainment company, to produce a limited-edition collection of wine inspired by New Line Cinema's “The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy. Each bottle includes a specially designed label, the company says.

These wines are limited to 6,000 bottles each and can be ordered exclusively at Lot18.com/LordOfTheRings while supplies last. The wine collection honors some of the film series' most memorable members of the Fellowship, including Aragorn, Frodo Baggins and Gandalf, as well as Galadriel, Lady of Lothlórien, it says.

The new “The Lord of the Rings” wine collection will include the following varietals:

2015 Aragorn Appellation Lussac - St. Émilion Contrôlée
A blend of 80 percent Merlot, 15 percent Cabernet Franc and 5 percent Malbec, this red blend is from the Lussac-St.-Émilion appellation, once the site of historic battles and dreams of victory, it says. Rich, concentrated and built to last, it's intensely expressive of its terroir, displaying black-fruit flavors and polished tannins on the palate.

2016 Galadriel Bordeaux Blanc
A high-toned wine, the Bordeaux Blanc features citrus flavors and remarkable concentration. The wine is a testament to Galadriel’s strength and wisdom, imbuing an immediate sense of devotion with its graceful palate, the company says.

2016 Frodo Lodi Old Vine Zinfandel
The zinfandel is crafted in honor of Frodo Baggins, keeper of the Ring. The wine offers vibrant flavors of blackberry, fig and spiced plum, which carry through a warm, pleasing finish, it says.

2016 Gandalf Monterey County Pinot Noir
Like the wise old wanderer, this subtle, yet complex red wine is unassuming at first glance, but quickly reveals itself to be spirited and persuasive, with black raspberry, alpine strawberry, and forest floor flavors, it says.
