Can seamer

Ferrum Ltd. will feature F812, a high-speed beverage can seaming machine, at drinktec in September. The company incorporated new features within an existing design, and the machine now exceeds many hygienic requirements. F812 also is equipped with a functioning version of the latest automated FerruClean, a foam cleaning system and hygiene center from Löhrke. In addition to all the features of F812 such as:
• quick can diameter change execution
• quick adjusting 2nd op off seaming can
• speed-dependent undercover gassing automatic
• loss-free oil lubrication, including seaming rolls The company now added:
• an upper rotor housing made of one piece machined stainless steel
• new machine guarding package with integrated CO2 control unit
• specialized CO2 exhaust system
• solid one-piece stainless steel base cover with 2.5 degree pitch angle for improved drainage
• redesigned can transfer that complies with existing wash-down and cleaning standards - Ferrum Ltd., Bahnstrasse 18, CH-5102 Rupperswil / Switzerland, 41 62 889 12 60; ferrum.ch, drinktec Hall 2, Booth 343.

Conveying solutions

Intralox, a manufacturer of modular plastic conveyor belting, will present its newest conveying solutions for the beverage industry at drinktec 2009. The Activated Roller Belt (ARB) solutions enable improvements through automation with a technology platform, the company says. By applying the ARB technology to the switch application, it can handle a wide range of packaging types. In addition, Intralox offers a package for the pasteurizer application: a chemical-resistant belt that features Enduralox polypropylene material that slows changes caused by chemical processes in pasteurizers. A turnkey retrofit on the Intralox pasteurizer belt offers one point of contact to perform upgrades, reduce overhaul and scheduled downtime. - Intralox, 301 Plantation Road, Harahan, La. 70123; 504/733-0463; intralox.com, drinktec Hall A5, Booth 113.

Eco cap

Graphic Packaging International Inc. will demonstrate its eco-friendly Cap It packaging solution at drinktec 2009. The machine will run a six-pack of 24-ounce PET bottles, but the Cap It solution also can be configured to a range of container sizes and package formats. Graphic Packaging will show its latest developments in multiple packaging machines for cans, glass or PET bottles. The booth also will showcase other packaging solutions and promotional packages from other parts of the world, the company says. - Graphic Packaging International Inc., 814 Livingston Court, Marietta, Ga. 30067; 770/644-3000; graphicpkg.com, drinktec Hall A5, Booth 323.

Three machines into one

Sipa Plastic Packaging Systems will present Sincro-Tribloc, a system that incorporates production, labeling and filling/capping of PET containers. The Sincro-Tribloc system combines three machines into one and works well if only a small area is available for installation, the company says. The system is made of electronically synchronized blocks, which allows the system to be controlled with one operator. The technology used on Sincro-Tribloc includes: Sipa’s rotary blowmolding machine SFR EVO, a Roll-Adhesleeve labeler that works without hot-melt glue, and an isobaric volumetric filler. The company will produce Superleggera, an industrial bottle weighing 9.9 grams, at drinktec 2009. The label is pre-glued during the printing process and the bottle is 100 percent recyclable. - Sipa Plastic Packaging Systems, Via Caduti del Lavoro, 3 31029 Vittorio Veneto, Italy; 390438.911511; sipa.it; drinktec Hall A5, Booth 303.

Multi-size packager

R.A. Jones & Co. Inc. will introduce the new Meridian XR Machine for the beverage industry at drinktec 2009. Meridian XR expands the company’s capabilities to a range of product types, diameters and heights in many packaging systems and formats. The machine features a metric stainless steel design, tool-less changover, and packages can or bottle sizes from 6 to 24 ounces. It also can be configured for single-tier four- to 24-packs. Meridian XR packs up to 300 packs per minute, and the reduced linear speeds permit pack and flap handling at lower velocities and accelerations. The 27.5-foot frame fits any application and ships in a single section, the company says. All Meridian XR machines are covered by a one-year 24 hour/seven-day-a-week warranty. - R.A Jones & Co., 2701 Crescent Springs Road, Covington, Ky. 41017; 800/216-4499; rajones.com; drinktec Hall A2, Booth 324.
