Jeff Nicholson brings investment expertise to winery

Vintage Wine Estates, Santa Rosa, Calif., has appointed Jeff Nicholson to the new role of chief operating officer. Most recently, Nicholson was an operating partner at AGR Partners. AGR Partners is an investment firm dedicated to food and agribusiness who acquired a minority equity stake in Vintage Wine Estates in April 2018. Nicholson will continue to be on the Advisory Board for AGR Partners.
Brad Irwin to retire 10 years after leading company

Welch’s, Concord, Mass., has appointed Trevor Bynum as President and CEO, effective Oct. 1. Bynum succeeds Brad Irwin, who will be retiring after 10 years leading the organization.
The American Beverage Association (ABA), Washington, D.C., announced that Katherine Lugar, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA), will join ABA as its new president and CEO later this year. Lugar will succeed Susan K. Neely, who led the ABA for 13 years. Neely was named president and CEO of the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) in May 2018.
After 12 years as chief executive officer (CEO) of PepsiCo Inc., Purchase, N.Y., Indra Nooyi announced that she will step down Oct. 3. Nooyi has been with the company for 24 years. She will remain chairman until early 2019. Following a unanimous election by the Board of Directors, Ramon Laguarta, president of PepsiCo, will assume the CEO position as well as election to the Board of Directors.
Schultz bids farewell after 40 years of leadership

Starbucks Coffee Co., Seattle, Wash., announced that their iconic leader and visionary entrepreneur Howard Schultz is stepping down from his role as executive chairman and member of the Board of Directors, effective June 26. He will be honored with the title of chairman emeritus, the company said in a statement. The company will continue to be led by Kevin Johnson, chief executive officer (CEO) and member of the Board of Directors, it added.
Charlie Papazian schedules retirement for Jan. 23, 2019

The Boulder, Colo.-based Brewers Association (BA) announced that founder and past president Charlie Papazian will retire from the BA on Jan. 23, 2019, which also marks his 70th birthday and 40 years building the craft brewing community.
The Boston Beer Co., Boston, announced that it has selected Dave Burwick to succeed Martin Roper as president and chief executive officer (CEO). It is expected that Burwick will assume the role during the second quarter, the company says. Jim Koch will continue in his role as founder and chairman.
