Category gains market share for 7th consecutive year

The distilled spirits sector achieved accelerated growth in 2016 with supplier sales up 4.5 percent to $25.2 billion, volumes up 2.4 percent to 220 million cases and a seventh straight year of market share gains relative to beer, the New York-based Distilled Spirits Council announced at its annual economic briefing for media and Wall Street analysts, sponsored by Spirited Funds.
Yerba Buena Beverage LLC, doing business as Gold Bar Bottling Co., now offers Gold Bar Premium 889 blend, an American whiskey finished in gold-plated barrels, it says.
In collaboration with Channing Tatum, Grand Teton Distillery launched Born and Bred Vodka, a craft spirit made from local Idaho potatoes and glacial water from the Grand Teton Mountains, the company says.
New York-based Stoli Group USA LLC announced that effective immediately it will hold the importation, distribution, sales and marketing rights for the KAH Tequila brand. This development closes out a banner year across the portfolio, driven by continued sales increases for the group's namesake Stoli Vodka and its ultra-luxury elite Vodka, extension into 24 states for Bayou Rum, and the wine division's multiple recognitions, the company says.
