Palatinit GmbH, Mannheim, Germany, can now market its functional carbohydrate Palatinose in both Australia and New Zealand for general use in foods and beverages. The company’s application for novel food status of the low-glycemic carbohydrate Isomaltulose was approved last month.
Orafti Active Food Ingredients has announced a price increase for its range of Beneo
ingredients. The company says it has worked to offset increasing costs in
raw materials and energy with efficiency improvements, but that it now must
add a 6 percent increase on prebiotic syrups and 8 percent on powdered
products. The increases will take effect next month.
Soy Labs LLC, Fairfield,
Calif., has created a strategic alliance with Revolutionary Ingredient
Technologies to develop the next generation of proprietary soy ingredients
for nutraceutical, cosmeceutical, soyfood, and functional food and beverage
manufacturers.
Danisco USA Inc.’s Litesse
polydextrose has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for
use as a bulking agent, formulation aid, humectant and texturizer in all
foods with the exception of meat, poultry, baby foods and infant formulas.
The approval allows for new possibilities in low-calorie, fiber-enriched,
reduced-sugar and low-glycemic foods and beverages, the company says.

extraction business. Paul Priestley will succeed him.
