Lift Trucks
Hyster Co. released the E30-40HSD lift truck series for retail, food and beverage, general warehousing and manufacturing applications. The 3,000- to 4,000-pound capacity lift trucks are engineered for low-cost operations, comfort and ease of use. The three-wheel, stand-up lift truck features the Hyster Ultima II Multi-Function Control Handle, which allows simultaneous operation of travel, hoist and other hydraulic functions. A Gen II transistor traction control system and Separately Excited Motor system contribute to the lift truck’s comfort and performance. Downtime is kept to a minimum thanks to the Hyster brushless AC traction and steer motors that eliminate motor brushes, commutators and contactors. In addition, the standard dash display provides information on battery charging and truck-hour metering as well as maintenance fault codes, allowing operators to continuously monitor lift truck processes. — Hyster Co., 1400 Sullivan Drive, Greenville, N.C. 27834; 800/497-8371; hysterusa.com.
Shrink packer
Douglas Machine Inc.’s new Contour SPS-30 Shrink Packer cost-effectively maximizes simplicity and efficiency with new technologies for tray, pad, u-board and film-only applications. The SPS-30 features a variety of infeeds, including the new Smartrak Steady Stream Infeed to ensure continuous product flow, easy-to-understand pin metering and servo drives for low maintenance and parts costs and repeatable changeovers. The flexible patent-pending servo-driven wrapping wand maximizes film control, resulting in accurate film placement. The film cutter consistently feeds and cuts film at speeds up to 30 cycles per minute. — Douglas Machine Inc., 3404 Iowa Street, Alexandria, Minn. 56308; 320/763-6587; douglas-machine.com.
Labeling system
Imaje’s 2000 Series can handle nearly every on-demand labeling application required by the industry. The modular design makes it easily adaptable to various production requirements and equally easy to incorporate new technology by simply swapping component options rather than purchasing a new system. The 2000 Series Print and Apply labeling systems’ modular design provides flexibility for identification of cartons throughout the supply chain. A single system can be changed between 4-inch and 6-inch print head configurations; 200 and 300 dpi print resolution; blow, tamp and wipe applications; and thermal transfer and direct thermal printing. — Imaje USA, 1650 Airport Road, Kennesaw, Ga. 30144; 770/421-7700; imaje.com.
Robotic case packer
Schneider’s Robotic Case Packer automatically loads empty plastic bottles into corrugated cases. A systems integrator of Fanuc Robotics, this system uses the Fanuc M16iB six-axes robot with a 20-kilogram payload capacity. The robotic case packer provides the flexibility to handle a wide variety of bottle shapes and sizes, as well as case sizes and pack patterns necessary to satisfy the needs prevalent in the plastic blowmolding industry, and while staying within a compact footprint. — Schneider Packaging Equipment Co. Inc., P.O. Box 890, 5370 Guy Young Road, Brewerton, N.Y. 13029; 315/676-3035; schneiderequip.com.
Liquid nitrogen injection system
Vacuum Barrier introduced its new Nitrodose MS (Multiple Speed) liquid nitrogen injection system designed to provide discreet dosing up to 550 containers per minute and constant steam thereafter, allowing for liquid nitrogen dosing at all line speeds. The system is equipped with touchscreen PLC controls, dose compensation logic and Vacuum Barrier’s advanced dosing valve that delivers pure, single-phase liquid nitrogen to meet stringent specifications. The Nitrodose MS system features an integral inlet valve for quick isolation from supply piping, rapid warm up capability for fast servicing, and is designed with a low-profile dosing head to fit into confined spaces. — Vacuum Barrier Corp., 4 Barten Lane, Woburn, Mass. 01801; 781/933-3570; vacuumbarrier.com.
Insulated carafe
International Dispensing Corp. unveiled a new 3-inch insulated carafe for liquid products on the go. The 128-ounce carafe provides an easy way to transport coffee, tea and other hot liquids while maintaining product quality. The inner liner holds a constant temperature, and can insulate liquids for up to three hours after filling. The carafe features a 3-inch screw-top mouth that can be pre-filled and poured with the same amount of ease. The carafe is safely designed with a reinforced plastic carrying handle that makes pouring trouble-free. In addition, large corrugated side panels create marketing opportunities. — International Dispensing Corp., 7502 Connelley Drive, Suite 100, Hanover, Md. 21076; 410/761-0070; idcdispensing.com.
Label printer applicator
ID Technology has designed a label printer applicator system to apply labels in one of three ways. The system can be integrated into a fully automatic production line or used as a semi-automatic tabletop unit. A label is dispensed and held on a vacuum pad waiting for a photocell trigger to begin the application process. The tamp module extends, applies the label and returns to the home position to retrieve another label. After the second label is dispensed onto the pad, the tamp module moves laterally a pre-specified distance, the tamp cylinder is extended again and a label is applied to the second product. The tamp cylinder retracts and the tamp module returns to the home position. — ID Technology, 2051 Franklin Drive, Ft. Worth, Texas 76106; 888/438-3242; idtechnology.com.
Access and control system
Unlike gate switches and machine controls, Fortress Interlocks’ new eGard system can be installed on machinery guarding in minutes. This provides a huge cost and time saving for OEM manufacturers, machinery guarding suppliers and end users. eGard is a versatile, modular system for machinery guarding applications and combines both access and control technology in one unit. Its internal network is self-configuring, it mounts simply on extruded aluminum, and features a quick disconnect as a standard feature. — Fortress Interlocks, 21 Kenton Lands Road, Erlanger, Ky. 41018; 859/578-2390; fortressinterlocks.com.

Advanced features include automatic setup with multiple programmable label pages for easy changeovers to labels of different sizes, rate compensation for improved label placement accuracy, and advanced user-configurable I/O connectivity. These handy features greatly simplify setup and changeovers. Like all 3138 models, the 3138-N 17-inch Powered Unwind is just as tough as it is versatile and advanced. The increased roll capacity of the large 17-inch powered unwind is perfect for high-speed, heavy-duty operation. The 3138-N’s rugged stainless steel and anodized aluminum construction is corrosion resistant, providing long-lasting durability and maintenance-free operation in the most hostile environments.
