Pack Expo 2004

High-speed shrink-sleeve labeler
The EZ-Seal 600SL is the latest addition to Axon’s EZ-Seal line of heat shrinkable sleeve label applicators. This new machine provides high production rates at minimal costs for most full-body sleeve applications. Capable of operation in either single or dual head mode, the machine provides added security over single head applicators.
With its small footprint, the EZ-Seal 600SL fits easily into any production line. The system, which includes the applicator and heat tunnel, will integrate with existing conveyors. It features an all-mechanical design with minimal moving parts, ensuring smooth operation. The patented cutting assembly provides high productivity and long blade life. Touch-screen operator interface offers ease of operation and system control. Take a look at the EZ-Seal 600SL at Pack Expo Inter-national booth 4027. — Axon Corp., 1341 Express Dr.; Raleigh, N.C. 27603; 919/772-8383; axoncorp.com
Equipped to package
Wulftec/M.J. Maillis Group will display a complete line of shrinkwrapping and strapping tools and systems, plus stretchwrappers at Pack Expo International. Wulftec’s new Smart Series stretchwrappers let you pick and choose the exact components that go into building this semi-automatic machine. The customized design lets users pay only for what they need.
The new Maillis MTO Series of made-to-order semi-automatic stretchwrappers are a faster, more cost-effective alternative to hand-wrapping. Check out these machines and more at booths N3658 (Wulftec) and N4166 (Maillis). — Wulftec/M.J. Maillis Group, 209 Wulftec St., Ayers Cliff, Quebec, Canada J0B 1C0; 819/838-4232; wulftec.com.
Bottle carriers
The new 2 Pack EasyLift Bottle Carrier for 2-liter bottles offers a unique way for companies to boost sales of 2-liter bottles. “Our 2 pack carrier is the ideal solution for 2-liter bottles because of the ease of application and the ability to stimulate sales by simply adding a handle,” says Allan Sutherland, president, Roberts Polypro Inc. “Multipacks boost sales, and you’re starting to see this trend grow not just in club stores but in retail and grocery stores as well.”
The 2 Pack Bottle Carrier can be supplied in any Pantone color to match existing graphics, can be printed with a UPC code and is available to fit all standard 2-liter bottles. The flat design of the carrier makes it easier to ship and store than injection molded carriers. Check out the 2 Pack Bottle Carrier at booth N4147 at Pack Expo International. — Roberts PolyPro, 5416 Wyoming Ave., Charlotte, N.C. 28273; 704/588-1794; robertspolypro.com
Glueless labeling
The Sleevematic DS Inline labeler takes sleeve labeling to a higher level of quality, control and cost savings. Krones Inline Sleevematic DS system supports the trend toward contoured and uniquely shaped containers. Sleeve-style labels function as 360 degree ‘billboards,’ allowing use of the entire container surface for labeling. The container itself becomes a display piece, a promotional tool with seasonal or other marketing messages. Glass, plastic and metal containers are handled with equal precision, running at 300 to 600 containers per minute, depending on sleeve length. Additionally, the sleeve label can be used as a tamper-evident seal.
Environmentally-friendly, sleeve labeling is a glueless process – meaning no equipment cleanup after every shift. The Inline Sleevematic DS offers exceptionally short changeover times for different containers or sleeves. Krones buffer system allows for splicing sleeve reels without slowing down. See the Sleevematic labeler on display at Pack Expo International booth S2466. -- Krones Inc., 9600 S. 58th St.; Franklin, Wis. 53132; kronesusa.com
Coding solutions
Domino high-speed S300 and S300B are being shown for the first time in the United States at Pack Expo International in November. Designed for the PET industry, the S300B, complimented by the A300SE, is the ultimate inkjet for wet and vapor-laden atmospheres such as soda bottling or canning plants.
The high-powered S300 and S300B were developed using Domino’s micro laser technology for applications involving high-speed lines, and offer readable, high-contrast codes. The new additions to the Domino S-Series of CO2 scribing lasers are especially useful in the food and beverage labeling sector and in PET and glass coding applications.
The S300B is particularly suited to PET applications as it uses “Blue Tube” technology, a wavelength specifically suited to PET that ensures there are “no holes” by minimizing power and optimizing code clarity. Meeting the challenges of high-speed applications in harsh environments, the S300B achieves production speeds of more than a 1,000 bottles per minute, printing a 2-line code.
Carbonated drinks manufacturers can achieve maximum production capacity with a Domino A300SE printer solution that eliminates printing problems caused by high levels of sugar or vapor in the air. Designed to be an outstanding tough-environment printer, the A300SE has IP66 protection. Beverage manufacturers are also assured of complete reliability and efficiency on the production line because automatic sensors ensure that the A300SE will only operate when systems are functioning to protect it from sugar or other airborne contaminants. The A300SE runs on a wide ink range including specialized fluids such as chill-resistant wet-bottle ink and specific inks for glass, PET and cans.
Also being shown at the Pack Expo International is the new C6000-Multi outer case coding system. High-resolution barcodes, logos, outstanding print quality and reliability are its key benefits. Each C6000 head runs 2-3/4 inches of print and is highly suited to carton decoration and full-spec barcodes. The C-Series offers central supervisory control for multiple printers and multi-level administrator rights. Stop in and take a look at these and other coding solutions at booth S1578. – Domino Amjet Inc., 1290 Lakeside Dr., Gurnee, Ill. 60031; 847/244-2501; dominoamjet.com
