Theatrical single-malt release event draws Chris Noth, Chris McDonald

Tuesday Dec. 15, in an event titled, “The Malts of Legend,” introduced five new single malts through a theatrical experience complete with surprise (and impromptu) guest appearances by actors Chris Noth and Chris McDonald. The five new single-malt Scotches, which launched in December, are Deveron, Royal Brackla, Craigellachie, Aultmore and Aberfeldy. Attendees were invited to mingle and taste the single malts as they enjoyed the theatrical displays that accompanied each. Posted December 22nd.

Performers put on a theatrical display of Deveron. The company (Highlands) offers “calm from the storm,” the perfect malt for relaxing by the fireside in the depths of winter, the company says. Soft, fruity notes combine with an easy drinking style to make Deveron a favorite with the work force of the distillery after a long day, it adds. (Photo courtesy of BFA NYC LLC)

Royal Brackla

NONE

Royal Brackla (Highlands), previously was released as a 35-year-old marque ($15,000 a bottle), is a truly regal malt. The new, heavily sherried, rich, fruity and full whiskey, slowly reveals its complexity. Royal Brackla will be available 12-year-old and 21-year-old expressions, which will retail for $65 and $225, respectively. (Photo courtesy of BFA NYC LLC)
Craigellachie

NONE

Craigellachie (Speyside) stays true to its traditions of whisky-making, including the use of worm tubs – so called for their coiled copper tubing – to cool the spirit. Craigellachie is recognized for its remarkable sulphuric, savory, meaty character, the company says. Craigellachie 13-year-old and 23-year-old whiskies retail for $55 and $280, respectively. Aultmore rare malt

NONE

Aultmore (Speyside) is a rare malt locally known as “a nip of the Buckie Road.” Aultmore is rated top-class and is a dram sought after for its gentle grassy notes, the company says. Aultmore will be available in 12- year-old and 18-year-old in limited quantities available for $55 and $115, respectively. (Photo courtesy of BFA NYC LLC)
Aberfeldy honey notes

Actor from Aberfeldy theatrical performance. Aberfeldy (Highlands) offers honey notes, displaying a classic Central Highland style rarely tasted in single malts today, the company says. ABERFELDY is available as 12-year-old and 21-year-old expressions, which are available for $45 and $195, respectively. (Photo courtesy of BFA NYC LLC)
