Tetra Pak USA recently unveiled Membrane Scope. The diagnostic tool delivers innovation in membrane filtration leak detection but decreases downtime and maintenance cost for spiral-wound membrane filtration systems, the company says.  Equipped with a waterproof recording video inspection camera and a 20-meter-long probe to visually identify the source of failure, the patent-pending Tetra Pak Membrane Scope provides visual confirmation of the source of poor permeate quality and product loss in spiral-wound filtration systems. The Membrane Scope detects cloudiness in the permeate and in about five to 10 minutes, identifies the precise location of failure while the system is in production, eliminating the need for shut-down and the need to uninstall and reinstall the membrane. The streamlined diagnostic process delivers reduced costs associated with product loss, equipment downtime, operator intervention time and unnecessary element replacement, it says.
