Fort Collins, Colo.-based Joy Organics announced the release of its new zero-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD) energy drink mix. The CBD Energy + Focus Energy Drink and Recovery Mix is designed to enhance anyone’s workout plan and provide improved workout recovery, the company says. The CBD Energy + Focus Drink contains 75 mg of caffeine, which helps improve focus and mental clarity, it adds.

Some of the most common issues people face during the workout and post-workout phase are muscle cramps and soreness, rapid breathing, inflammation and stomach pain, the company says. This is because of the buildup of lactic acid in the bloodstream, and CBD helps counter the lactic acid production and hastens the body’s clearance of it to reduce these symptoms, it adds.

“There are a great number of possible benefits that CBD offers to a workout and athletic performance, including assistance in weight loss efforts, insulin control, cortisol reduction for improved muscle building and maintenance, and it’s a great inflammatory,” said Joy Smith, founder of Joy Organics, in a statement.

The CBD Energy + Focus Drink is a water dissolvable that should be consumed 30 to 60 minutes prior to or after an intense workout, the company says. It is derived of full-spectrum THC water-soluble powder, which contains 12.5 mg of CBD, as well as other minor cannabinoids and a blend of amino acids and vitamins, it adds.

The workout enhancing drink now is available via the company’s website for $19.75 for five packets, $35 for 10 packets and $60 for 20 packets, or individually for $3.75 each.
