Indulgent Diets
Pepsi-Cola North America created Pepsi Jazz, a new line of zero-calorie colas available in Black Cherry French Vanilla and Strawberries & Cream. Consumer research leading up to the launch revealed that the smooth nature of the cola coupled with these aromatic flavors produced a more indulgent experience, the company says.

Healthy resource
Pacific Organic Produce introduced Purity Organic Be Well drinks, an organic hydration line of enhanced juice drinks offering low sugar, vitamins and antioxidants. The line is started with two flavors — Healthy Energy (pomegranate and raspberry) and Restore (orange, mango and tangerine). Purity Organic uses vitamins and extracts from natural sources; for example, the electrolytes in Restore are from sea salt and the caffeine boost in Healthy Energy is from green tea and guarana extracts.

Classic iced tea
Coca-Cola North America released Gold Peak, a premium ready-to-drink iced tea. Offered in five flavors — Sweetened, Unsweetened, Lemon, Diet and Green Tea — Gold Peak delivers a home-style iced tea taste in a 16.9-ounce carafe-like glass bottle. Gold Peak’s launch will be supported with an integrated marketing program that includes national print and radio advertising and sampling.

New green on the scene
After launching white teas earlier this year, Cadbury Schweppes now offers Snapple Green Teas, a collection of green teas that contains 55 mg. of the antioxidant EGCG per bottle. The all-natural teas are made with sugar and are available in Original, Mango and Asian Pear flavors. Snapple Green Tea is packaged in 17.5-ounce bottles, and retails for $1.39.

Doctor’s call
MD Drinks released Function, a line of physician-developed, all-natural, nutrient-enhanced, and caffeine- and preservative-free beverages. Function Urban Detox in Citrus Prickly Pear flavor contains an ingredient blend that addresses hangover physiology, helps protect the liver, minimizes the effect of pollution on lungs and sinuses, and boosts the immune system, the company says. Function Brainiac — Carambola Punch flavored with rain forest star fruit — improves mental acuity and enhances memory, while Acai Grape-flavored Function Youth Trip uses antioxidants to support strong connective tissue, bones and youthful skin, according to MD Drinks. The Function line is available in 16.9-ounce bottles for around $1.99.

Thunder rush
Liquid Lightning Inc. introduced two new energy drinks, Liquid Lightning Regular and Sugar Free. The sugar free variety has 5 calories and no fat or sodium. Liquid Lightning provides energy through a mix of juices, taurine and nutrients. The drinks combine the ingredients with a lightly carbonated sensation. Both versions are packaged in 8.4-ounce cans for $1.99, six-packs for $7.99 and bag-in-the-box.

Vitamins for kids
Wild Waters released a line of fortified, naturally flavored waters for kids. The drinks are enhanced with vitamins and minerals, including calcium, magnesium, zinc, potassium, fiber and vitamins A and C. The made-to-grip 10-ounce PET bottles with a twist-up sport top allow for portability. The label showcases kids performing healthy lifestyle activities from snowboarding to dancing. The waters are available for $0.99 in six flavors: Flippin’ Fruit Punch, Groovin’ Grape, Rippin’ Raz Lemonade, Rockin’ Red Cherry, Kickin’ Green Apple and Twistin’ Tropical Punch.

Think, then drink
Aquamantra combines natural spring water, packaging and quantum physics to inspire consumers “to think, then drink,” the company says. Instead of flavors, Aquamantra has three water “mantras” to identify its current line: I am Healthy, I am Loved and I am Lucky. By combining affirmations with engaging packaging, each bottle becomes a tool to remind the consumer to think consciously about being healthy, lucky and loved. The 1-liter bottles retail for $2.50 to $3.

Premium proposition
Pernod Ricard USA collaborated with Young’s Market Co. to create a new premium tequila called Tevado Tequila. Tevado is produced and bottled at Pernod Ricard’s distillery in Mexico. A triple distillation process, combined with six months rest in white oak barrels, results in a reposado tequila with few impurities and a smooth, clean taste. Tevado debuted this summer in California in 1.75-liter, 1-liter, 750-ml. and 50-ml. bottles, along with being available in a Margarita co-pack that includes a 750-ml. bottle and a bottle of Finest Call Margarita Mix. A 750-ml. bottle retails for $19.99.

RTD smoothie
Lund Food Holdings and Blackwatch LLC, owner of the Sola Squeeze brand, released a premium line of Sola Squeeze fruit smoothies. Available in Lunds and Byerly’s stores, the smoothies are pre-packaged in 16-ounce bottles for $3.49 in four varieties — Zen Potion, Scuttle Berry, Big Green and Quite Citrusy. Each variety is high in calcium and fiber. Zen Potion focuses on well being with calming nutrients that help manage stress. Scuttle Berry contains nutrients intended to enhance performance, while Big Green is supercharged with nutrients. Quite Citrusy contains vitamins and nutrients that elevate the immune system.
