PBG Opens New Virginia Plant
The Pepsi Bottling Group, based in Somers, N.Y., has opened a new
state-of-the-art production, distribution and
sales facility in Wytheville, Va. The plant features high-speed,
self-cleaning filling machines; robotic systems to load and unload raw
materials and finished products, and advanced packaging systems. It has
four production lines — a 12-ounce can line, two PET bottle lines,
and a bag-in-box line — and will serve parts of Virginia, West
Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
“This new facility represents the very best of
our capabilities, and will allow our employees to provide our Mid-Atlantic
customers with the highest-quality Pepsi products, superior marketplace
execution and the world-class service that is a hallmark of The Pepsi
Bottling Group,” said PBG Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John
Cahill. BI
