Starbucks introduces Hazelnut Macchiato

Brings back Tribute Blend

Starbucks Coffee Co., Seattle, introduced a handcrafted Hazelnut Macchiato beverage to its menu at participating Starbucks retail stores nationwide. As one of the most popular flavors in Starbucks retail stores, second only to vanilla, the new beverage allows consumers to enjoy the popular flavor hot or iced.

“Starbucks baristas use the world’s finest espresso to craft each beverage by hand, with unparalleled passion and expertise,” said Cliff Burrows, president of Starbucks Americas, in a statement. “No beverage better demonstrates this level of craftsmanship than our signature four-layered Macchiato, and we know customers will love this new member of our espresso beverage family.”

The new Hazelnut Macchiato features steamed milk blended with Starbucks’ signature espresso and finished with a hazelnut flavor, the company says. The espresso shots used in the Hazelnut Macchiato are pulled between 18 and 23 seconds and added to the drink within 10 seconds to help ensure a balanced, rich espresso flavor, it adds.

In other news, the coffee company also brought back its Starbucks Tribute Blend in whole bean, Via and K-Cup packs. The blend combines aged Sumatra, sundried Ethiopia, Papua New Guinea and Colombia coffee beans that are individually roasted and then blended to capture the finest flavor notes from each variety, the company says. A 1-pound bag of the whole bean coffee has a suggested retail price of $14.95; Starbucks Via Ready Brew Tribute Blend 12-count packs have a suggested retail price of $11.95; and Starbucks Tribute Blend K-Cup packs have a suggested retail price of $12.95 for a 12-pack.
