Corona, Calif.-based Monster Energy Co. launched the Monster Energy Ultimate Intern Search to fill two newly created intern positions. The Monster Energy Ultimate Intern Search will award two individuals a compensation package worth more than $15,000 and the opportunity to work directly with athletes, music artists, celebrities and the Monster Energy staff at major national sports and entertainment events across America, including X-Games 18, the Vans Warped Tour 2012, and the Street League DC Pro Tour fueled by Monster Energy, during the summer.

“The Monster Energy Ultimate Intern Search was inspired by the hundreds of passionate stories shared with us by our customers at events and on our Facebook and Twitter sites,” said Sam Pontrelli, senior vice president of marketing for Monster Energy, in a statement. “It amazes us to learn how our customers find unique ways to harness their ‘Monster within’ that helps them visualize and achieve greatness in their own lives. We thought this internship program would help people share ideas and provide Monster Energy with the opportunity to identify the best possible interns for the company.”

In a series of online video invitations featuring Monster Energy-sponsored athletes and celebrities such as NASCAR drivers Kurt and Kyle Busch, freestyle motocross champion Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg, legendary supercross champion Jeremy McGrath and party-rocker Ricky “Wallpaper” Reed, contestants are asked to submit a 1-minute video to the Monster Energy Facebook page explaining why they should be selected to be the “Ultimate Intern.” In addition to Facebook, fans also can view and vote for video submissions at http://ultimateintern.monsterenergy.com on mobile phones.

“Monster Energy’s intern program is a cool opportunity for anyone,” Kyle Busch said in a statement. “Who wouldn’t want to work with such an edgy brand, traveling the country, working at the nation’s biggest events with athletes, rock stars, and celebs, and having the time of their life?”

The first 250 contestants to submit their videos will receive a Swag package worth more than $100 featuring merchandise from Monster Energy, Skull Candy’s multiple award-winning FIX ear buds, and DC Clothing, such as a DC backpack, T-shirts or caps.

Submissions for The Monster Energy Ultimate Intern Search will be accepted from April 9 through June 10. Voting for entrants begins May 14 and lasts through June 10. Winners will be announced June 22. The two-month internships are from June 25 to Aug. 24.

Video entries will be voted on by Monster Energy’s Facebook fans and evaluated by a panel of Monster Energy judges. The judges will select six individuals to compete in the Final 6 Challenge, which is a week-long series of events in southern California.

Comprised of Monster Energy-sponsored athletes and celebrities, the panel of judges will evaluate the performance of the Final 6 Challenge contestants and select the two Ultimate Intern winners. Winners of the Final 6 Challenge will be chosen based on their ability to “capture the essence” of the Monster Energy lifestyle, learn quickly, think on their feet, and make a valuable contribution to the Monster Energy team. Each of the Final 6 Challengers will receive a custom pair of Skullcandy’s Roc Nation Aviator headphones and a full Swag bag of DC Clothing.

During the internships, the two winners will rotate in various positions at Monster Energy. They will work closely with, and learn from, professional athletes, entertainers and celebrities who are sponsored by Monster Energy, and other company representatives and partners. Winners will be exposed to various parts of the business and will be responsible for creating and posting social media content about their experiences, providing unique insights about current customers, emerging customer segments, consumer trends and other information relative to pop culture.

In addition to their compensation package from Monster Energy, the winners will receive Skullcandy Mix Masters Fix in-ear headphones and Vinyl Riser iPhone 4 cases. From Horizon Hobby and Team Losi Racing, they also will receive an XXX-SCT Short Course Truck that looks like the ones being raced by full-scale short course racers Stenberg and McGrath.
