Pepsi Beverages Co. finalizes acquisition of California bottler

Pepsi Beverages Co., Somers, N.Y., a division of PepsiCo Inc., completed its acquisition of Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. of Yuba City Inc. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The Yuba City, Calif.-based company is a Pepsi-Cola franchised bottler serving parts of northern California. While PepsiCo continues to work in close partnership with franchised bottlers across the United States, PBC acquired the company as part of its ongoing practice of acquiring available franchises as a means to build scale and efficiency in its company-owned bottling operations, it said.

Plans for the acquisition were previously announced by The Pepsi Bottling Group (PBG), which PepsiCo acquired — along with PepsiAmericas — in February to form Pepsi Beverages Co. The mergers are intended to offer a set of strategic advantages which will provide the greatest benefits in North America and Europe, where the bottlers have operations, the company said.
