Beverages and beverage mixes promoting skin health are breaking on to the market and targeting consumers’ desires to improve their appearances. These products include ingredients to improve skin hydration, elasticity, clarity, firmness and tone in addition to helping cell regeneration, decreasing the appearance of wrinkles and offering antioxidant benefits that all point to slowing down the aging process. Below is a look at some of last year’s beautifying new product introductions.

Last year, Kraft Foods expanded its line of Crystal Light (www.crystallight.com) drink mixes to include two Skin Essentials varieties. Available in Pomegranate Lemonade and White Peach Tea, Crystal Light Skin Essentials aim to nourish skin from within. The products are formulated with antioxidant vitamins A, C and E as well as plant extracts, including beta-carotene and marigold flower extract that is a source of carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin. New from Liquid Health Labs, Harrisville, R.I., Nutrelle (www.nutrelle.com) looks at anti-aging and beauty in a holistic sense, says Kenneth Milligan, the company’s chief science officer.

“It’s more than just skin and hair,” he says. “It’s about beauty retention.”

Targeting multiple beauty benefits, the Nutrelle line includes Firm & Hydrate: Blueberry Jasmine, Slim & Glow: Acai Grapefruit, Shield & Repair: Cantaloupe Lemon, Vitalize & Balance: Watermelon Banana and Calm & Zen: Matcha Tea Passion Fruit. The products include antioxidant vitamins A and C, B vitamins, beta-carotene, minerals, alpha lipoic acid, lycopene, collagen and CoQ10. The line also includes ingredients like Sendara and Sensorol, which aim to slow the aging process and stress; Wellberry that offers a highly absorbable form of vitamin C; GliSODin to help protect skin from UV radiation; and Super Citrimax to aid in satiety and weight loss.

Nutrelle combines the selection of beauty-enhancing ingredients within Liquid Health Labs’ PowerCap. The interactive cap allows flavors to remain fresh and the ingredients to stay potent, Milligan says.

This month, Pevonia International LLC, Daytona Beach, Fla. (www.pevonia.com), launched PevoVitale Anti-Aging Face & Body Drink as part of its new Spa Vitamin line. PevoVitale’s drink mix includes marine collagen for healthy aging; hyaluronic acid for moisture-retention; a superfruit antioxidant blend of acai, blueberry, blackberry and cherry; green and white teas; and resveratrol to reduce inflammation and fight free radicals, the company says. PevoVitale also includes ashwagandha root extract to promote the feeling of wellness, relaxation and calmness and extramel, a melon extract, to help alleviate stress, fatigue and irritability, it says.

PevoVitale is packaged in stick packets in counts of 30 for $59, and the company suggests drinking one crystal stick packet daily as a complement to Pevonia Botanica anti-aging skincare products.
