Co-located tradeshows bring beverage innovations to Chicago

This year, NürnbergMesse North America’s Interbev tradeshow co-located with Food Marketing Institute’s FMI Connect for a multi-day food, beverage and retail tradeshow June 10-13 at Chicago’s McCormick Place.
When playing Jenga, players have to carefully remove small wooden blocks to simplify a tower’s structure without pulling out the wrong block, which can cause the tower to topple. In some ways, formulating beverages is like playing a game of Jenga: Formulators add and remove certain elements to simplify beverage processing or meet consumer interests; however, if they pull out the wrong ingredient, the beverage’s structure can fall apart.
The International Society of Beverage Technologists (ISBT) convened in San Antonio, April 28-30 for BevTech 2014. Each day of the 61st annual meeting of the ISBT featured a keynote speaker, educational presentations from industry experts, and targeted presentations from three of the ISBT’s nine technical committees.

Concord, Mass.-based Drinkmaple launched maple., an all-natural, plant-based water sourced from North American maple trees. The new water now is available in 8.45-ounce cartons at retail throughout the greater Boston area as well as online at www.drinkmaple.com.
Although it’s common for siblings to attempt to out-compete each other as children, it’s less likely that it will result in a profitable business venture for them as adults. But for brothers Russ and Jim Klisch, what started out as a case of sibling rivalry over who could homebrew the better beer turned into a successful beer business.
