In the beverage industry, trends like clean label and non-GMO are resonating with consumers. Fortified/functional (FF) beverages also have maintained their upward trajectory growing by 6 percent as health-conscious consumers seek out premium products with added vitamins and minerals, according to Chicago-based Euromonitor International’s April report “Fortified/Functional Beverages in the US.”

Inventure Foods Inc., Phoenix, a marketer and manufacturer of specialty food brands under a variety of company-owned and licensed brand names, announced a consumer-facing campaign to invite fans to vote for the next Jamba At Home smoothie recipe. The Jamba brand is owned by Jamba Juice Co., Emeryville Calif.
NutraGenesis reformulated its Wellberry ingredient, which is a patent-pending, generally recognized as safe-affirmed functional superfruit ingredient. The new Wellberry ingredient combines superior, proprietary forms of two antioxidants: a multi-patented extract of Indian gooseberry and a new highly effective form of vitamin C called Transport C-Plus, which contains a blend of buffered vitamin C and alpha lipoic acid.
Modjo Hydrate Elite, made by Cellutions LLC, is an all-natural sports drink infused with real coconut water, vitamin C and all-natural flavors and colors, and fortified with 99.9 percent pure sea salt. The beverage is available in Lemon Lime Ice, Orange Rush, Island Punch and Blue Crush flavors. Its 20-ounce and 32-ounce bottles have a suggested retail price of $1.59 and $2.59 each, respectively.
