Southern Wine & Spirits moves into Indiana, signs distribution agreement with Foster's

Southern Wine and Spirits of America Inc. will begin statewide operations in Indiana starting in July.

Gerald Rivero Jr., executive vice president, general manager of Southern Wine & Spirits of Indiana, said in a statement: “We have completed the up fit of our new ‘home’ — a 211,000 square-foot distribution facility in Greenwood, Ind. In addition, we have two satellite hubs in Gary and Evansville as well as a 7,500 square-foot sales office in the state capital of Indianapolis. The Greenwood distribution facility is truly cutting edge with high-tech, automated sortation and shipping systems — all integrated with our warehouse management system backbone.”

Operations will cover the entire state of Indiana with a dedicated delivery fleet servicing all of the state’s retail customers, Rivero said.

The company will represent several suppliers in Indiana, such as Diageo, Diageo Château & Estate Wines and Majestic Fine Wines.

In addition, Foster’s Group Ltd. has signed long-term distribution agreements with Southern Wine & Spirits in three of the largest U.S. markets.

Southern Wine & Spirits will gain the exclusive rights to sell Foster’s global portfolio of wines in California, Florida and Illinois. Southern currently distributes Foster’s wines in each of these states but has shared the portfolio with other distributors and Foster’s own self-distribution.

“We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with Southern under these new agreements which will deliver superior performance in each of these key states,” said Foster’s Americas Managing Director Stephen Brauer, in a statement.

The new contracts are effective July 1.
