Energized coffee
Starbucks and Pepsi-Cola introduced Doubleshot Energy + Coffee, a new line of ready-to-drink products containing coffee, B vitamins, guarana and ginseng. The drink is available in Mocha, Vanilla and Coffee flavors. Each is packaged in a single-serve 15-ounce can. Four-packs and 12-packs will be available this fall. The cans are priced at $2.59 and are available in Starbucks stores, convenience stores or supermarkets nationwide.
 
Powder packs
 
PepsiCo. released its newest hydration product, Gatorade Powder Packs. The packs contain electrolytes and 14 grams of carbohydrates. One powder pack is intended to be used in a 16.9-ounce bottle of water, the company says, and each packet contains 100 calories. Gatorade Powder Pack flavors include Fruit Punch, Lemon-Lime and Orange. A box of eight packets retails for $3.49.
 
Venom energy
 
Dr Pepper Snapple Group introduced an energy drink called Venom, which is packaged in a re-sealable 16.9-ounce aluminum bottle. The energy drink contains caffeine, L-carnitine, guarana, ginseng and taurine. Two flavors include Black Mamba, with 120 calories and 29 grams of carbohydrate, and Mojave Rattler, a low-carbohydrate, low-calorie variety with 25 calories and 4 grams carbohydrates. The product retails for $2.29.
 
RTD Kool-Aid
 
Kraft Foods introduced new and reformulated Kool-Aid products, including powdered and ready-to-drink beverages. Burstin’ Waters is a new flavored RTD water that has 35 calories per serving and is available in Tropical Rain, Cherry Waves and Grape Splash flavors. The waters are packaged in squeezable plastic bottles in six-packs that retail for 99 cents. Kraft also added Sugar Free Kool-Aid, a low-calorie soft drink mix reformulated with five calories per serving; Sugar Free Kool-Aid On The Go packets, pouches that can make two servings; Kool-Aid Singles, a mix reformulated to contain 30 calories per serving and used to flavor a 16.9-ounce bottle; and Sugar Sweetened Kool-Aid, a drink fortified with vitamins C and E, with 60 to 70 calories per serving.
 
Curing tea
 
The Republic of Tea added new flavors to its Sip for the Cure Collection, including Red Cherry White Tea and Pomegranate Vanilla Red Tea. The Cure Collection benefits the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation and will honor the 2008 National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For every tin of Sip for the Cure, the Republic of Tea will contribute $1 to Komen for the Cure.
 
Malt whisky
 
Skyy Spirits introduced Cutty Sark Blended Malt Scotch Whisky. The product is made with 100 percent malt and has aromas of light floral, vanilla and coconut, the company says. The Scotch is available in a 750-ml. bottle and retails for $29.99. It is being tested in Colorado and Georgia, with expansion planned for later this year.
 
Sparkling soda alternative
 
Hansen Natural Corp. introduced Hansen’s Natural Sparkling Water, marketed as a soda-alternative. The sparkling waters are flavored with natural fruit flavors and are available in six flavors: Blueberry-Pomegranate, Dragonfruit, Cranberry-Grapefruit, Valencia Orange, Green Tea Pomegranate and Green Tea Tangerine. The drinks provide vitamin C, and are caffeine-free, preservative-free and sodium-free. Sweetened with cane sugar, Hansen’s Natural Sparkling Water contains 90 calories per 10.5-ounce can. The line also offers sugar-free varieties.
