Bacardi U.S.A. Inc. announced the nationwide release of a limited quantity of Bacardi Reserva Limitada rum. Known as “Founder’s Blend,” Bacardi Reserva Limitada rum was originally created as a personalized blend for the Bacardi family in honor of Bacardi founder Don Facundo Bacardi Massó. The rum was first released at the 2003 inauguration of the Bacardi Visitors Centre in Cataño, Puerto Rico, and previously has been available in limited quantities in Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands and Aruba. The special reserve rum is a blend of the finest Bacardi rums, which is rested in lightly charred American white oak barrels between 10 and 16 years. The result is a deep golden-hued rum with dark reddish undertones and vanilla, oak and dried fruit undertones with a rich, smooth taste and velvety finish, the company says. The rum is individually bottled, numbered and sealed by hand with a cork finish. The initial release consists of 1,000 cases of Bacardi Reserva Limitada rum available in 750-ml. bottles for $110.
