Acquistion enables brand to enter more consumer markets
Achaval Ferrer, which was founded in 1998 and acquired in 2011 by SPI Group, announced that it has acquired Melipal Winery located in Agrelo, Mendoza.
Established in Mendoza, Achaval Ferrer is among the pioneers of bringing the Malbec varietal to the world while implementing a long-standing commitment to the highest international standards of sustainable viticulture, the company says. The winery also has a complete environmental plan and corporate social responsibility program that results in high-quality wines, it adds. Achaval Ferrer’s current portfolio consists of three tiers of wines: Fincas, single vineyard handcrafted wines; Quimera, the single blend produced at the winery; and the Mendoza line, with Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and recently, Cabernet Franc.
