Chicago-based MillerCoors joined the Organization for Machine Automation and Control (OMAC), Reston, Va.
Vernon Hills, Ill.-based Tetra Pak announced that in 2012 the company made further progress toward its 2020 environmental goals and its ultimate aim of providing fully sustainable packaging using only renewable materials and leaving a minimal environmental footprint and zero waste. In 2012, the company increased global recycling of Tetra Pak cartons by 10 percent and increased use of bio-based polymer caps derived from sugar cane to 610 million, up from 80 million in 2011. Tetra Pak also reported that it reduced its carbon emissions by approximately 2 million kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalents in 2012, compared with its 2010 baseline, despite a 9.5 percent increase in production volumes during the same period.
