Boston Beer Co. reports Q1 results

Company’s net revenue increased 8.5 percent

The Boston Beer Co.  Boston, reported its first-quarter 2015 net revenue at $199.5 million, which is an increase of $15.7 million, or 8.5 percent, compared with the same period last year, the company says. The increase is mainly due to core shipment growth of 6 percent, it says. Net income for the first quarter was $13.7 million, or $1 per diluted share, an increase of $5.4 million, or 38 cents per diluted share, from the first quarter of last year, it reports. This increase was primarily due to shipment increases and slightly improved gross margins, it explains.

In the final months leading up to the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on the freedom to marry, Skyy Vodka is using its resources and voice to make a positive impact on causes important to its employees and consumers, the brand says.

 Roy D. Bigham has been a managing editor at BNP Media since 2002 for Pollution Engineering and moved to Beverage Industry in 2014. Prior to joining BNP Media, Mr. Bigham worked in a variety of industries. During his career, he has served as a laboratory technician at a research laboratory, managed an electroplating operation and supervised an associated analytical laboratory. For three years, he also oversaw the environmental operations of five domestic and five overseas operations for a major manufacturer in the Detroit area. He then managed a field services department for an environmental analytical laboratory before accepting a position as an environmental engineer for a construction aggregates company.

How beer brands are using social media to connect with consumers

Social media has become a buzzword for not just American consumers but also the business environment. Brand Chorus, a division of New York-based TippingGardner, conducted a Beer StoryScore Index for Beverage Industry. StoryScore is a quantitative measure of a brand’s storytelling through social management based on creativity, strategy and personality.
