MillerCoors, Chicago, will launch Miller Fortune lager in mid-February to help the beer category regain share of the market that has been lost to spirits, wine and their drinking occasions, says Karina Diehl, communications manager for the Miller family of brands and multicultural brands.
This National Lager Day, Dec. 10, St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch will raise a toast to the popular beer style — and with good reason. A new survey conducted by the brewer and KRC Research found that many adults still say that lager is their favorite type of beer, despite the ever-increasing interest in different styles of beers and brewing.
On-premise ale and cider sales were on the rise in the third quarter of 2013, reports Restaurant Sciences LLC, Newton, Mass. Ale sales grew 2 percent and cider sales grew 39 percent compared with the prior-year period, it reports. Comparatively, nationwide on-premise lager sales were down 7 percent compared with the third quarter of 2012, it adds.
