Camden, N.J.-based The Campbell Soup Co. reported a sales increase of 10 percent, with an organic sales increase of 1 percent, reaching $2.3 billion in the second quarter of the 2013 fiscal year. In addition, the company reported a 5 percent increase in adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) including its acquisition of Bolthouse Farms.
The juice and juice drinks market saw new products that combined flavors and explored sweetener profiles. Minimal growth took place in both the shelf-stable bottled juice and juice drinks category as well as refrigerated juice and juice drinks, an upside compared to last year’s slight decrease for bottled juices and relatively flat sales for refrigerated offerings.
The Campbell Soup Co., Camden, N.J., expanded its V8 franchise with the announcement of V8 V-Fusion + Energy drinks and V8 Energy Shots. Each beverage provides one combined serving of vegetables and fruit as well as a natural energy boost from green tea extract, the company said.
