Raleigh, N.C.-based Pepsi Bottling Ventures (PBV), the largest privately held bottler for PepsiCo beverages in North America, plans to expand its bottling operations in Winston-Salem, N.C., with a new facility.
Seattle-based Starbucks Coffee Co. announced the availability of two new Starbucks Refreshers products: Handcrafted Starbucks Refreshers beverages and Starbucks Via Refreshers instant beverages.
The shareowners of The Coca-Cola Co., Atlanta, approved a two-for-one stock split and an increase from 5.6 billion to 11.2 billion authorized shares of the company’s common stock, the company reported.
Campbell Soup Co., Camden, N.J., has entered into an agreement to acquire Bolthouse Farms, Bakersfield, Calif., from a fund managed by private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners LLC for $1.55 billion in cash.
Jamba Juice Co., Emeryville, Calif., announced that through its “Team Up for a Healthy America” campaign and associated fan pledges, it has been able to support DonorsChoose.org in providing much-needed play and exercise equipment to help kids be active in schools across the United States. DonorsChoose.org is an online charity that provides students with the tools and experiences necessary to help ensure they receive an excellent education, according to the website.
Coca-Cola Zero, a brand of The Coca-Cola Co., Atlanta, partnered with actor Ken Jeong, star of “The Hangover” films and TV series “Community,” to show why “and” is always better than “or.”
Anheuser-Busch, the St. Louis-based subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch InBev, unveiled its newest responsible drinking campaign that relies on the Internet and social media to engage adult drinkers and raise awareness.
Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev), Leuven, Belgium, will acquire the remaining stake in Grupo Modelo, Mexico City, for $20.1 billion. The combined company would lead the global beer industry with roughly 400 million hectoliters of beer volume annually and 2012 estimated revenues of $47 billion, AB InBev noted in a statement. Tangentially, Constellation Brands Inc., Victor, N.Y., which in a joint venture with Grupo Modelo currently owns 50 percent of Crown Imports LLC, Chicago, signed an agreement with AB InBev to purchase the remaining 50 percent interest in Crown for $1.85 billion.
Coca-Cola India announced that the Coca-Cola system will invest an additional $3 billion in India through 2020 to further capture growth opportunities in the country’s fast-growing non-alcohol ready-to-drink (NARTD) beverage market. With the new investment, the Coca-Cola system now plans to invest $5 billion in India through 2020, the company noted.
