In honor of its 75th anniversary, the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) will feature special celebratory events at its Annual Meeting & Food Expo, June 21-24 at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center.
Celanese Corp., Irving, Texas, announced that it will increase the price of its globally sold potassium sorbate and sorbic acid products. Nutrinova potassium sorbate will increase by up to 6 percent, and Nutrinova sorbic acid will increase by up to 10 percent, effective June 1, 2014, or as contracts allow.
New York-based Kyowa Hakko USA Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Kyowa Hakko Bio Co. Ltd., completed generally recognized as safe (GRAS) self-affirmation for its L-Citrulline amino acid.

The Juice Products Association (JPA) released a statement in January highlighting the nutritional benefits of 100 percent juice. “Can something that tastes as good as 100 percent fruit juice be good for you? Research shows it is,” the statement read. “More than just sugar and calories — 100 percent juice is a healthful, nutrient-dense beverage. It also contains beneficial vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients (plant compounds).”

When it comes to food and beverages, nothing tops taste, according to a study released by the Corn Refiners Association (CRA), Washington, D.C. Completed in part by market research firms Nielsen, New York, and Mintel, Chicago, Sweetener360 examines the thoughts and actions of six distinct consumer lifestyle segments, the association says.
