Skinny Water Wake Up
 
Skinny Nutritional Corp. introduced Skinny Water Wake Up, a new “breakfast” flavor to its Skinny Water line. Skinny Water Wake Up is a blend of orange, cranberry and tangerine flavors, and each 16-ounce bottle contains 250 percent of the recommended daily intake of vitamin C, the company says. The product also has EGCG, a green tea extract, calcium, potassium, and vitamins A and E. Skinny Water Wake Up joins Acai Grape Blueberry, Raspberry Pomegranate, Goji Fruit Punch, Lemonade Passionfruit and Peach Mango Mandarin flavors.
 
Santa Cruz Organic Mango Lemonade
 
Santa Cruz Organic, a subsidiary of Smucker Quality Beverages Inc., released Santa Cruz Organic Mango Lemonade. The product contains mango and lemonade flavors from concentrate as well as 11 percent juice. The Mango Lemonade variety joins Lemonade, Limeade, Strawberry Lemonade and Raspberry Lemonade. A 32-ounce bottle retails between $2.89 and $3.39. Mango Lemonade will hit retail shelves in June.
 
Chiquita Frozen Fruit Smoothies
 
Chiquita Brands International Inc., in a partnership with Old Orchard Brands, Sparta, Mich., launched a line of frozen fruit smoothies made with Chiquita bananas. Chiquita Frozen Fruit Smoothies are packaged in 12-ounce plastic cans, which provide three 8-ounce servings when blended with ice and water. Each smoothie serving contains at least a half-cup of fruit and 100 percent of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C, the company says. The smoothies are available in Strawberry Banana, Banana Colada, Peach Mango and Mixed Berry flavors. A can retails for $2.69.
 
Sierra Mist Ruby Splash
 
Pepsi-Cola North America, Purchase, N.Y., introduced Sierra Mist Ruby Splash, a grapefruit-flavored line extension to the company’s lemon-lime soft drink portfolio. Sierra Mist Ruby Splash is offered in regular and diet versions, in 20-ounce and 2-liter bottles, 12-packs and 12-ounce cans. The product is the first Sierra Mist line extension that will be available year-round.
 
Steaz Energy Shot
 
The Healthy Beverage Co. released Steaz Energy Shot. The product contains 150 mgs. of plant-based caffeine. Steaz Energy Shot contains the same ingredients as Steaz’s 12-ounce Energy Drink, including organic, Fair Trade certified green tea, Sambazon’s acai juice and Guayaki’s yerba mate. Steaz Energy Shot is packaged in 2.5-ounce bottles and is available in 12-count trays. One shot bottle retails for $2.99.
 
Strawberry Guava flavored Function: Alternative Energy
 
Function Drinks added Strawberry Guava flavored Function: Alternative Energy, and Peach Mango flavored Function: Light Weight to its line of beverages. Strawberry Guava is a blend of catuaba, yerba mate, guarana, muira puma and B vitamins. Peach Mango combines resveratrol, EGCG and gymnema extract, which the company says is added to curb sugar cravings and help maintain normal carbohydrate metabolism. Light Weight is offered in Acai Pomegranate, Blueberry Raspberry and Pink Grapefruit varieties.
 
Vitaminwater10
 
Glaceau Vitaminwater, a division of The Coca-Cola Co., released Vitaminwater10, a low-calorie beverage with 10 calories per serving. The product is available in XXX (Acai-Blueberry-Pomegranate), Essential (Orange-Orange), Energy (Tropical Citrus) and Multi-V (Lemonade) flavors. Vitaminwater10 Essential is sweetened with rebiana, a stevia extract. A 20-ounce bottle retails for $1.49. It also is available in variety packs of 20 and 16-ounce four-packs. Vitaminwater10 is the first low-calorie Vitaminwater extension.
 
JoJo Energy Drinks
 
JoJo Energy Drinks Specialty Beverage & Supplement Inc. introduced JoJo Energy Drinks. The product carries its ingredients in the cap and is mixed just prior to consumption. With a counterclockwise twist of the cap’s top, ingredients drop into the liquid and are mixed after shaking the bottle, the company says. JoJo Energy Drink is available in Orange Sickle, Black Cherry, Super Berry, Citrus Guava, Passion Fruit Mango and Mojito flavors. A 16.9-ounce bottle retails for $3.00.
 
Izze Sparkling Lime
 
Izze Beverage Co. added Izze Sparkling Lime to its line of sparkling juice flavors. Izze Sparkling Lime is a blend of 70 percent juice and 30 percent sparkling water. The 12-ounce bottles initially will be in four-packs at Whole Foods Markets across the country.
 
Bacardi Dragon Berry
 
Bacardi U.S.A. Inc. added Bacardi Dragon Berry to its family of flavored rums. Dragon Berry combines strawberry and dragonfruit flavors. The rum joins Bacardi Limon, Bacardi O, Bacardi Coconut, Bacardi Razz, Bacardi Big Apple, Bacardi Grande Melon and Bacardi Peach Red. Bacardi Dragon Berry is 35 percent alcohol by volume and a 750-ml. bottle retails for $13.99. The flavor also is available in 200-ml., 375-ml., 1-liter and 1.75-liter sizes.
 
Sunny D Smoothies
 
Sunny Delight Beverages Co. launched Sunny D Smoothies, a new line of vitamin-fortified smoothies with as much calcium and vitamin D as milk, the company says. Sunny D Smoothies are available in Orange Whirl and Strawberry Swirl varieties. Packaged in 48-ounce containers, the product retails between $1.48 and $1.89.
 
Serious Madness Black Ale
 
Mad River Brewing Co. released Serious Madness Black Ale, a high-gravity dark-lager built on the company’s Two-Row Pale Malt, North American Specialty Malts and German Carafa. The Ale also is fermented with Mad River’s ale yeast. Serious Madness Black Ale is bittered with Magnum hops, while flavor and aromatics are enhanced by Hallertau and Tettnanger with Willamette hops used to add aroma. A 12-ounce bottle carries 8.6 percent alcohol by volume.
 
Juicy Juice Brain Development and Immunity
 
Nestle Juicy Juice introduced Juicy Juice Brain Development and Juicy Juice Immunity. Both juice drinks are made with natural ingredients, fortified with nutrients and blended with filtered water to reduce the sugar and calorie content, the company says. Juicy Juice Brain Development is available in Grape and Apple flavors. It offers DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid from fish oil. Juicy Juice Immunity comes in Apple and Berry varieties. In addition, the product carries zinc, vitamin C and 3 grams per serving of prebiotic fiber. Juicy Juice Brain Development and Juicy Juice Immunity are packaged in 33.8-ounce Tetra cartons and retail for $2.99.
 
ZT
 
ZredT introduced ZT, a line of antioxidant-rich organic ready-to-drink red teas. ZT is available in Unsweetened, Lemon, Vanilla and Ginseng & Honey flavors. Each tea is made from the rooibos plant, grown in South Africa. ZT is a source of magnesium and natural fiber, and also carries a low glycemic index, the company says. A 16-ounce bottle retails between $1.79. and $1.99.
 
Finlandia Tangerine Fusion
 
Brown-Forman Corp.’s Finlandia Vodka added All-Natural Finlandia Tangerine Fusion to its line of vodkas. The All-Natural Finlandia Tangerine Fusion is the sixth flavored vodka from the company. The product is 40 percent alcohol by volume, and releases floral citrus aromas, the company says. A 750-ml. bottle retails for $18.99.
 
2008 Vermentino and 2008 Morello di Prile
 
The Stianti Mascheroni family debuted its first vintage of Prelius wines. The wines are made with grapes grown in organically farmed vineyards, the company says. The 2008 Vermentino, which the company says has flavors of pineapple and apple, and the 2007 Morello di Prile, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, released this month. The 2008 and 2007 vintages retail for $16 and $22, respectively. Wilson Daniel Ltd. is the U.S. importer for both wines.
 
Malibu Island Melon
 
Pernod-Ricard USA added Malibu Island Melon to its line of rums. The flavor joins Malibu, Malibu Tropical Banana, Malibu Mango, Malibu Pineapple and Malibu Passion Fruit. Malibu Island Melon is packaged in 50-ml., 750-ml., 1-liter and 1.75-liter bottles. A 750-ml. bottle retails for $12.99.
 
Arran Single Malt
 
A. Hardy USA released Arran Single Malt Scotch Whisky finished in Pomerol Bordeaux wine casks. Arran Malt contains hints of vanilla and fruit, the company says. The whisky is matured in oak casks for eight years before being transferred to Pomerol casks for an additional six months. Arran Single Malt is available in 750-ml. bottles.

Starbucks Via Ready Brew

April 15, 2009
Starbucks Coffee Co. launched Via Ready Brew, an instant coffee made with coffee beans sourced from the top 3 percent of the world’s coffee supply, the company says. Via Ready Brew is pre-portioned into single-serve packets and packaged in books of three or boxes of 12, retailing for $2.95 and $9.95, respectively. Colombia and Italian Roast are the initial flavors in the line. The planned national rollout of Starbucks Via Ready Brew is fall of this year, but the product currently is available in Seattle and Illinois Starbucks stores.

Pepsi-Cola North America released Pepsi Natural, made with sparkling water, natural sugar, caramel and kola nut extract. The product is packaged in 12-ounce glass bottles and is available in single-serve and four-packs, which retail for $1.40 to $1.79 and $3.99 to $4.49, respectively. Pepsi Natural is available in 10 regional markets: Chicago, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Las Vegas and New York.

Skyy Infusions Pineapple
 
Skyy Spirits released Skyy Infusions Pineapple to its line of Skyy Infusions. The flavor joins Citrus, Cherry, Passion Fruit, Raspberry and Grape varieties. Skyy Infusions Pineapple is created by using Skyy Vodka infused with real fruit, the company says. The product is available in 50-ml., 750-ml. and 1-liter bottles. A 750-ml. bottle retails for $18.49.
 
Odwall Protein Monster
 
Odwalla Inc., a subsidiary of The Coca-Cola Co., added Vanilla Protein and Chocolate Protein to its line of Protein Monster beverages. Each 15.2-ounce bottle contains 33 grams of soy and dairy protein, and Vanilla Protein also has vanilla extract. Vanilla and Chocolate Protein carry vitamins B6 and B12, calcium, zinc, potassium, copper and iron. The new flavors join Super Protein Vanilla Al’Mondo and Super Protein Original.
 
Jones Gaba
 
Jones Soda Co. debuted Jones Gaba, a tea and juice blend with the amino acid Gaba. Jones Gaba contains PharmaGaba, which is thought to improve mental focus, balance and clarity, while reducing stress, the company says. The beverage is available in Fuji Apple, Lemon Honey, Nectarine and Grapefruit flavors. Each 12-ounce can contains 150 mg. of PharmaGaba and retails for $2.99.
 
Amp Energy
 
PepsiCo introduced Amp Energy Lightning, Amp Energy with Black Tea and Amp Energy with Green Tea, three flavor extensions to its Amp line. Amp Energy Lightning is a lemonade flavor with L-carnitine; Amp Energy with Black Tea contains amino acids and antioxidants; and Amp Energy with Green Tea offers antioxidants as well as beta-alanine.
 
The company also launched Bloodshot Super Energy Supplement, an energy drink made with blood orange and dragonfruit juices. Bloodshot contains electrolytes and 150 percent of the daily recommendation for C and B vitamins. The flavor extensions and Bloodshot are packaged in 16-ounce cans that retail for $2.29.
 
Vapor Water
 
Arizona Beverage Co. created Vapor Water, a vapor-distilled water infused with a blend of electrolytes. During the distillation process, environmental pollutants are removed from the vapors, and then the clean water is combined with calcium, magnesium and potassium, the company says. The formula is designed to help increase the rate of hydration and enhance performance during physical activity. A 25.3-ounce bottle and 33.8-ounce bottle retail for $1.29 and $1.59, respectively.
 
Sunkist Naturals Smoothies
 
Sunkist Naturals, owned by Maverick Brands, added Pomegranate Sunshine and Tangerine flavors to its line of smoothie beverages. Pomegranate Sunshine contains vitamins A, C and B as well as 4 grams of fiber per bottle. Tangerine carries 2.5 pounds of tangerine juice squeezed into a bottle and 420 mg. of potassium, the company says. The flavors join Strawberry Dream, Golden Mango, Berry Blue Bountiful, 100% Valencia Orange, Orange Cream, Berry Cherry Bountiful and Glorious Greens. All varieties are available in 15.2-ounce and 1-liter bottles, which retail for $2.79 and $3.99, respectively.
 
The company also introduced Sunkist Light 80 Calorie Smoothies with 40 percent fewer calories and carbohydrates than traditional smoothies, the company says. The Light Smoothies carry less sugar and are low in fat. The smoothies are available in Strawberry Banana, Blackberry Blueberry and Pomegranate Cherry flavors. All flavors contain high amounts of vitamin C, the company says.
 
O.N.E. Coconut Water with a Splash
 
O.N.E. Natural Experience released O.N.E. Coconut Water with a Splash and O.N.E. Water at Natural Products Expo West in March. O.N.E. Coconut Waterwith a Splash is a blend of coconut water and tropical flavor, the company says. The product is available in Pineapple, Passion Fruit, Mango and Pink Guava varieties. The 8.5-ounce Tetra Pak retails between $1.29 and $1.49.
 
O.N.E. Natural Experience is donating all profits from O.N.E. Water to non-profit organizations such as the American Cancer Society and Disabled American Veterans, among others. The product is produced with spring water sourced from Eastern Canada. Packaged in 16.9-ounce Tetra Paks, O.N.E. Water retails between $1.49 and $1.79. O.N.E. Coconut Water with a Splash and O.N.E. Water will appear on retail shelves in June.
 
RTD Puerh Tea
 
Numi Organic Tea expanded its offerings with ready-to-drink bottled teas, including five varieties of Puerh Tea blends and one Rooibos Herbal blend. Numi Organic RTD Puerh teas are available in Mango Passion Puerh Black Tea, Earl Grey Puerh Black Tea, Magnolia Jasmine Puerh Green Tea, Peach Nectar Puerh Green Tea and Moroccan Mint Puerh Green Tea flavors. In addition, Honey Lemon Rooibos Teasan is available as an herbal, caffeine-free option. A 12-ounce bottle retail for $2.79.
 
Crispin Natural Hard Apple Cider
 
Crispin Cider Co. launched Crispin Natural Hard Apple Cider. The product is available in three varieties: Original, Brut and Light. Original is 5 percent alcohol by volume, Brut is 5.5 percent alcohol by volume and Light is 3.2 percent alcohol by volume. All Crispin flavors are fermented with red wine yeasts as well as not-from-concentrate apple juice blends. A four-pack retails for $6.99.
 
Stirrings Bar Solutions
 
Stirrings released Bar Solutions, juice mixers in eco-friendly shelf-stable cartons. Bar Solutions are available in Bloody Mary, Mojito, Margarita, Cosmopolitan, Pomegranate and Wild Blueberry flavors. The 1-liter cartons were crafted from renewable raw materials through a resource-efficient process, which reduces CO2 emissions, the company says. The product is being sold to on-premise bars and restaurants through a national network of foodservice and liquor distributors. Bar Solutions does not contain alcohol.
 
Ito En teas
 
Ito En launched Oi Ocha Dark Green Tea, Jasmine Green Tea and Golden Oolong Tea, three traditional Japanese teas. The line extensions feature Japanese package labels to reflect the traditional Japanese taste of the unsweetened and calorie-free infusions, the company says. Oi Ocha Dark Green Tea has a robust flavor; Jasmine Green Tea is infused with Jasmine flowers; and Golden Oolong Tea is a blend of Golden Cinnamon and Iron Goddess, although the teas are steeped separately. A 16.9-ounce bottle retails for $1.99.
 
Drenchers Super Blends Mocha Cappuccino
 
Drenchers added Super Blends Mocha Cappuccino to its line of Super Blends. Mocha Cappuccino combines Sumatra coffee, purified water and non-fat milk with chocolate. Each 9.5-ounce bottle features Bodyguard, the company’s antioxidant package, which includes vitamins A and E, zinc, non-fat milk, calcium, magnesium and niacin.

The product contains 4.9 percent alcohol by volume and is available in bottles in six- and 12-packs and on draft. Classic Amber retails for $6.99 to $7.99 for a six-pack.

Raw Foods International Inc. released Raw, a line of unpasteurized, preservative-free vegetable and fruit juices. When a beverage is pasteurized, many of the nutrients are killed, the company says. Raw uses ingredients that have a medicinal value to the body, such as cucumber, which cools the body down, it says. Raw is available in Cucumber Pineapple Juice, Cranberry Ginger, Carrot Lemonade, Tropical Medley and Beetroot Magic flavors. A 16-ounce bottle retails for $3.89.

This article is a conglomerate of new products offerings in March 2009. Naked Juice, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, Purchase, N.Y., added Acai Machine to its line of Machine smoothies. Acai Machine includes 178 acai berries, 14 Concord grapes, two apples, one banana and three-quarters of a plum in every bottle. The product also carries the antioxidant benefits of beet, black currant and elderberry. Each 15.2-ounce bottle contains more than three servings of fruit and retails for $3.79.

Gatorade Focus

The Gatorade Co., a division of PepsiCo, reformulated its Gatorade Tiger Focus. The product includes theanine, which when combined with carbohydrates and hydration, helps promote mental focus, the company says. Gatorade Tiger Focus also provides vitamin E, and has half the calories and 25 percent more electrolytes than Gatorade Thirst Quencher. Gatorade Tiger Focus will be available at grocery stores in a 32-ounce bottle and 16.9-ounce eight-packs, and at convenience stores in a 32-ounce and 16.9-ounce bottles.
