The aluminum industry’s Curbside Value Partnership got in on the political action this month with a study that shows 70 percent of Democrats and 69 percent of Republicans say they “always” participate in curbside recycling programs. Both groups also believe that it is their community’s responsibility to provide such programs, and newspaper and aluminum cans were cited as the most-recycled materials by both groups.
Reyes Holdings LLC has acquired the Larkin Wholesale Co. Inc., Hagerstown, Md., which it says represents annual sales of more than 700,000 cases of Miller, Yuengling, Corona, Pabst and other beer products.
Coca-Cola’s Minute Maid division and PepsiCo’s Tropicana business both have implemented additional price increases on juice products due to low crop estimates for the 2006/07 season and futures prices that are near record levels. Minute Maid increased wholesale list prices of Simply Orange Orange Juice and Minute Maid Premium Orange Juice by 9 to 11 percent. Tropicana and Dole prices will increase 4 to 8 percent at the beginning of 2007.
Outlast Nutrition LLC, maker of Daredevil Energy Drink, has teamed with Bruner Distributors for distribution in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and Deli Provision Distribution, which will make its products available in North Carolina.
Constellation Wines will sell its Zillah winery in Washington’s Yakima Valley to Roza Hills Vineyards. The company has leased the winery to Washington Wine & Beverage, and it has been operated by Roza Hills since Constellation acquired it in 2001. The sale is expected to close in February 2007.
The Liquor Group, Novi, Mich., will take on distribution operations for Oregon-based Hood River Distillers in Michigan. Hood River brands include Pendleton Blended Canadian Whisky, imported Brokers London Dry Gin, Yazi Ginger Vodka, Cockspur Fine Rum, Cockspur 12 Rum, Cockspur Rum Punch, Spudka Vodka, and Knickers Irish Cream Whiskey. The Liquor Group operates in 31 states and several international markets.
