Martini Moscato d’Asti sparkling wine
July 11, 2011
Bacardi U.S.A. Inc.’s Martini Moscato d’Asti sparkling wine is crafted from 100 percent handpicked Moscato Bianco grapes. The variety received the Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (D.O.C.G.) classification, which is a high-quality designation given to the top 1 percent of Italian wines, the company says. After the grapes are harvested, the fruit is crushed and the juices are cooled to 0 degrees Celsius to ensure undisturbed fermentation and to preserve freshness. The slow fermentation process of the grape’s natural sugars is followed by a final filtration step to remove yeasts. The process yields a low alcohol content of 5 percent alcohol by volume, the company says. A 750-ml. bottle has a suggested retail price of $14.99.
