, Richmond, Va., entered into a preferred partnership agreement with Graham Packaging, York, Pa. Through the agreement, both firms can provide shrink sleeve labels and blown container solutions to their customers. The firms will offer co-promotional sales and marketing.
Ryder System Inc., Miami, has been awarded a distribution and transportation management contract with Nestlé Chile S.A. Ryder was selected to consolidate Nestlé Chile S.A.’s distribution network into a more centralized operation. Under the multi-year contract, Ryder will manage two multi-customer distribution centers with a combined 400,000 square feet of finished products located in Maipú and Quilicura, Chile. Ryder will manage the outbound transportation of 60 to 80 vehicle loads per day to more than 600 Nestlé customers.
Eastman Chemical Co. reorganized into two business groups effective April 1. The chemicals and fibers business group will consist of the company’s performance chemicals and intermediates; fibers; and coatings, adhesives, specialty polymers and inks segments. The polymers business group will include the company’s polymers and specialty plastics segments. As part of the realignment, organizations that were part of Eastman’s Voridian Division will be folded into these two groups. Fibers will become part of the chemicals and fibers group. Polymers manufacturing will now be part of the polyesters business. This group will take advantage of synergies between the polymers and the specialty plastics organizations.
Caterpillar formed Cat Environmental Technologies, a new group that brings the development and manufacturing of all after-treatment technology and products in-house. The result is a single source for engine technology that meets emissions standards while reducing the environmental impact of Cat engines. Cat Environmental Technologies is part of the Caterpillar Engine Component business unit.
