PepsiCo, Purchase, N.Y., launched a campaign to encourage Hispanics to not only be counted in the 2010 Census, but also to share their unique experiences with the world.

With the help of Eva Longoria Parker, actress and co-star of Desperate Housewives, PepsiCo launched YO SUMO, which translates as “I count.” Longoria Parker is producing and directing a documentary that compiles stories shared by Hispanics on www.pepsiyosumo.com. She will select from the stories the people who will be cast in the film and work with them to tell their story, the company said.

PepsiCo is marketing the campaign through English and Spanish television commercials across all of Telemundo Communications Group’s platforms, the company said.

“Pepsi’s YO SUMO program creates a space to celebrate the power of the Hispanic community, while shining a light on the beauty of individual people,” said Frank Cooper, chief consumer engagement officer, PepsiCo Beverages Americas, in a statement.
