MorePepsiCo, Purchase, N.Y., awarded 32 new grants totaling $1.3 million through its Pepsi Refresh Project, a program that seeks to fund constructive ideas that can make a positive impact.
The company began awarding Pepsi Refresh Project grants in January and will donate about $20 million toward similar projects this year. This month, PepsiCo gave away two $250,000 grants, 10 grants of $50,000, ten grants of $25,000 and ten grants of $5,000. The company accepts proposals and puts them to an online vote at www.refresheverything.com.
Among the two $250,000 pledges was a grant to build a safe haven for children through Homes of Hope for Children Inc., Hattiesburg, Miss. The Tommy Foundation Inc., Lancaster, Pa., will use its $50,000 grant to produce a documentary educating the public about autism. A $25,000 grant will help Dallas-based Resounding Harmony to produce a “Sing for the Cure” performance to raise money to fight breast cancer.
A new round of voting for grant recipients begins May 1. Each month, PepsiCo plans to award up to $1.3 million to the ideas with the most votes. The company will accept up to 1,000 new ideas each month and let voters decide who wins.
