Nestle Waters earns sixth LEED certification

Nestle Waters North America's Breinigsville, Pa., bottling facility received Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. It is Nestle Water's first facility to receive Gold status, and also the first food manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania to achieve that ranking. Nestle has five LEED certified plants, including four with Silver certification and one with full LEED certification. Three additional plants are under review for LEED status.

Environmentally conscious elements of the Breinigsville facility include:

- A savings of 9.9 billion BTUs of energy per year

- Conservation of approximately 220,000 gallons of water

- Reduction in construction waste of 75 percent

In addition, Nestle Waters says it will offset the energy used in the plant for two years through renewable energy certificates from Choose Renewables.
