Koko Brown Ale

Kona Brewing has expanded the availability of its Koko Brown Ale to the United States mainland. The beer, which was first served at its Kailua-Kona pub in summer 2009, has a nutty aroma and flavor that comes from dried toasted coconut added to the mash. Koko Brown Ale has a deep amber color with mahogany cues with toffee and nutty coconut flavors that are complemented by Victory and Munich malts, the company says. It is the third beer in the brewery’s Aloha Series, which also includes Wailua Wheat and Pipeline Porter. Koko Brown Ale is available in 12-ounce bottles in six-packs in West Coast markets through May.
