Danisco has introduced Commonsense Flavors based on human flavor perceptions, which it describes as a whole new way of ensuring food and beverage products live up to consumer expectations. Commonsense flavors are available in natural, nature-identical and heat-stable formats for beverage and dairy applications. One of the key technologies behind Commonsense Flavors is proton reaction-mass spectrometry (PTR-MS), which makes it possible to measure the flavor components released while food and beverages are consumed. SunActive Zinc
Taiyo International has launched SunActive Zinc, its latest addition to the Nutrition Delivery System, for use in food and beverage applications. BASF’s Human Nutrition business has introduced two new, highly pure forms of Riboflavin — High Flow 100 and Fine Powder. Both are 100 percent vitamin B2 powders that meet the monographs requirements of the United States Pharmacopoeia and the Food Chemicals Codex. The new riboflavin products are produced by a fermentation process that uses naturally occurring, non-genetically modified microorganism. U.S. Demand for anti-aging products, including dietary supplements, pharmaceuticals and cosmetic products, is expected to grow 8.7 percent per year to reach $30.7 billion in 2009, according to a new report from the Freedonia Group, Cleveland, Ohio. Fueling the growth will be the increased number of individuals entering their 50s, which is set to expand at a 2.5 percent annual rate. Freedonia points out that this population is one of the most affluence generations and is willing to pay for products that provide anti-aging benefits.
