Carolina Beverage Co., Salisbury, N.C., announced volume of its Cheerwine brand is up 30 percent so far this year through Nielsen-measured channels. The company has been working to expand the brand into new markets.

“2009 is proving to be a breakout year. It marks the initial phase of our comprehensive, integrated campaign that will engage our target with a full range of sight, sound and motion,” says Tom Barbitta, vice president of marketing for Cheerwine. “There has always been a loyal fan base for this iconic brand – but the combination of our new packaging and a fresh new campaign seems to be a powerful punch that has retailers turning their heads and taking notice, particularly in this slumping category."
