Discharged with ease

Charles Ross & Son Co. offers a new Discharge System with Electronic Pressure Control. After the mixing cycle, the mixing vessel is rolled over to the Discharge System, which consists of a platen that is lowered hydraulically into the mix vessel. The platen is fitted with an O-ring that rides against the vessel wall as the platen pushes down on the batch. Product is forced out through one or more outlet valves located on the vessel or on the platen. Interfaced to a PLC-based control panel, the new Discharge System features a cylinder-mounted linear transmitter for precise indication of platen position. When the platen reaches the bottom of the vessel, all product outlet valves automatically close and a vent valve opens as the platen retracts to the up position. In addition to accelerating product transfer and reducing contamination risk, this method of discharging viscous or sticky mixtures also prepares the mix vessel for easy clean-up. Virtually all of the product is pushed out by the platen; in most cases, only a thin layer of material remains on the vessel bottom requiring minimal manual cleaning, the company says.

Clean and clear

GE Power & Water recently announced that it has made significant improvements to its Sievers InnovOx Total Organic Carbon (TOC) Analyzer, which is designed to help companies monitor, measure and control the organics in wastewater and industrial process water. The new enhancements allow the advanced TOC Analyzer technology to monitor organics using close to real-time data to monitor and optimize water processes for higher up-time and overall cost savings for customers, the company says. Other recent enhancements include application-specific sample preparation of the TOC Analyzer technology with the ability to handle water samples with as much as 5 percent organics and as much as 0.1 percent total suspended solids, particles in wastewater and high-temperature sample measurement. By removing sample and precipitated impurities between each analytical run, InnovOx eliminates contamination of sample matrices, providing reliable, long-term system performance.

Mass flowing

Schneider Electric offers a new advanced generation mass flowtube to its Foxboro Coriolis Solutions. The CFS25 mass flowtube joins the product family and uses the same proven digital Coriolis technology. It works with the CFT51 Coriolis mass transmitter to form the Foxboro Mass Flow and Density Meter. Using digital signal processing, the CFT51 improves flowmeter performance, particularly during two-phase flow, partial empty tube conditions and batching from empty operations. Other design improvements in the CFS25 include computer modeling, remote communications, automated manufacturing processes, construction and testing, the company says. The Coriolis flowmeter is not sensitive to varying process conditions, it adds. In addition to accurately measuring liquid, it also can be used in applications with entrained air, non-Newtonian fluids, viscous and abrasive fluids, slurries and gases.
