David Michael & Co. hosted its 11th annual Innovation Roadshow on May 2 at the Hyatt Regency at Penn’s Landing in downtown Philadelphia. The flavor companyDavid Michael roadshow introduced more than 250 attendees, including domestic and international customers, student volunteers from the University of Delaware’s food science department, and local and trade media representatives, to samples of 25 never-before-seen food and beverage products developed by its global technical team that highlight the latest flavor trends.

One of the beverage trends the David Michael & Co. team highlighted at the event was the increasing interest in non-alcohol cocktails. In line with this, the company showcased its Adults Only flavors line, which mimics the taste of alcohol cocktails, including gin-and-tonics, Bloody Marys and Margaritas, and even exhibits the warming sensation associated with alcohol beverages.

However, David Michael & Co. also offers flavors formulated for alcohol beverages. More specifically, its Old Time Body & Age whiskey flavor, which was created by the company 118 years ago, removes the raw edge of whiskey but provides a smooth taste without the need for years of aging. This flavor innovation also set the stage for the development of more than 40,000 additional flavors for use in whiskey and other distilled spirits.

The company also is taking a page from international flavor trends. During this year’s roadshow, David Michael & Co. introduced two new flavors that were inspired by the growing interest in Peruvian food. The first, a natural Pepino Melon type that blends the tastes of honeydew, cantaloupe and cucumber, was featured in a sweetened milk beverage. The other innovation, a natural Chicha Morada flavor, combines apple, pineapple, lemon, cinnamon and clove flavors. David Michael & Co. featured the Chicha Morada flavor in a carbonated beverage prototype.

These are just some of the thousands of flavors David Michael & Co. offers for beverage applications. For more information, visit dmflavors.com.
