Blue Moon Cinnamon Horchata AleThis month, Blue Moon Brewing Co., part of Chicago-based MillerCoors’ Tenth and Blake Beer Co., is introducing Blue Moon Cinnamon Horchata Ale. Crafted with cinnamon, Belgian dark candy sugar and long-grain rice, the ale was inspired by the traditional and popular Latin American drink known as horchata.

Blue Moon Cinnamon Horchata Ale was created by Keith Villa, founder and head brewmaster at Blue Moon Brewing Co., who drew inspiration from his Mexican heritage to create the unfiltered ale.

"Growing up in a Mexican family, I had horchata all the time when I was young, but then I rediscovered it in recent trips to Latin America," Villa said in a statement. "I wanted to develop a brew for adults that combined the refreshing and creamy attributes of the traditional horchata, so I'm beyond pleased that we finally made it a reality. It brings me great pride to introduce this brew into the market."

The 5.5 percent alcohol by volume brew starts out slightly sweet and ends with residual cinnamon spice, the company notes.

Blue Moon Cinnamon Horchata Ale will be included in the Blue Moon fall and winter brewmaster sampler packs, which will be available nationwide. A limited supply of the new Blue Moon Cinnamon Horchata Ale also will be available in 6-packs starting Aug. 1 in select cities in Texas, California, New York and Colorado.
