Reston, Va.-based Packaging Machinery Manufacturer’s Institute (PMMI) used its presence at interpack to address the top trends and challenges impacting the North American manufacturing sector. Kicking off the week-long tradeshow May 8-14 in Düsseldorf, Germany, the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies discussed topics including reduced dependence on foreign oil, “Made in the USA” products, robotics, innovations in traceability technologies and retail-ready packaging at its press conference.

To help connect tradeshow attendees throughout the show with PMMI member companies exhibiting at interpack, PMMI launched www.top101innovators.com, an online platform that allowed interpack attendees to locate PMMI member exhibitors.

“While an evolving regulatory landscape and economic uncertainty present manufacturers with hurdles, advanced processing and packaging technologies are building a bridge to opportunities for growth,” said Charles D. Yuska, president and chief executive officer of PMMI, in a statement. “With over 100 member companies showcasing innovations at interpack, and [with] Pack Expo International and Pharma Expo taking place this fall, we are dedicated to connecting manufacturers around the world with the innovations they need to thrive.”

In addition, PMMI provided updates on its Pack Expo family of tradeshows, including Pack Expo 2014, which will take place Nov. 2-5 in Chicago. This upcoming show will provide attendees with solutions for advancing shelf impact, food safety, efficiency and overall equipment effectiveness.
