The West Australian Distilling Co. launched South Sea Rum, which is a blonde agricole-style rum crafted with free-run juice from the first pressing of hand-selected Queensland sugar cane crops. Distilled as two separate batches, one in a pot still and the other in a column, the rum is blended and finished in old and new American oak barrels for at least two years. The resulting 80-proof rum features smoky and vanilla notes, the company says. A 750-ml bottle retails for between $29.99 and $34.99.
