LED inspection kit

Paul N. Gardner Co. Inc. launched its EK-3000 EagleEye LED Inspection Kit, a palm-sized, cool-running light source. The compact, lightweight lamp has two ultra-high-intensity ultraviolet (UV)-A LEDs for inspection and a three-LED white light assembly for general illumination, making it ideal for fluorescent magnetic particle and penetrant testing, the company says. The kit also comes with an adjustable strap, so that the lamp can be worn on a hard hat or head, a built-in fan to keep the lamp cool, a splash guard with an integral particulate filter to protect the UV lenses and cooling fan from damage, and a rechargeable lithium ion battery that powers the lamp for as much as 75 minutes. Replacement batteries and splash guards, a lanyard, a battery charging cradle, UV-absorbing glasses and a product carrying case also are included with the EK-3000.

Aluminum can clamp

SCI Solutions Inc. offers a square clamp rod assembly for Alcoa and Randolph aluminum can light testers. Consisting of a three-piece shaft that includes a main shaft, turret nut and nose, the clamp has an aluminum outer housing, a hardened Rockwell shaft, vapor deposition coating and a composite bushing, which allows the clamp to operate without lubrication, the company says. Its Grip-Tite pad, which can hold any size of can, has a patented face that firmly grips the can and prevents sliding and rocking, thus decreasing pressure on the can’s seal, allowing the seal to last longer, and reducing the occurrence of false rejects, it says. This system also allows the operator to increase processing speeds by 100 cans or more a minute, it adds. The unit’s quick-change protrusion system also reduces the need for shims behind the pad and instead requires only a three-step adjustment system that requires no disassembly, which saves changeover time and does not require the operator to stock additional parts, it notes. Plus, its lubeless system reduces cross contamination between cans and creates a cleaner manufacturing environment, it says.

Steam system management program

Spirax Sarco created a Steam System Asset Management Program. Under this program, a team of fully trained and qualified Spirax Sarco steam technology specialists will survey, assess and manage a plant’s steam system and investigate additional opportunities to reduce energy losses, make productivity improvements, and address plant hygiene and safety gaps through detailed system assessments, staff interviews, training seminars, and feedback from operations and maintenance personnel, the company says. All programs are based on a 12-month renewable term. Spirax Sarco also compiled a list of state and local utility incentive and rebate programs on their website to help companies improve their steam system performance and processes and maximize their return on investment.
