MoreLakeville-Middleboro, Mass.-based Ocean Spray North America launched two new variations of its flagship cranberry juice cocktail: Ocean Spray Low Tart Cranberry Juice Cocktail and Ocean Spray 2/3 Less Sugar Cranberry Juice Cocktail. Both juice drinks pair the health benefits of cranberry with the great taste consumers have come to expect from Ocean Spray, the company says.
“We have a suite of products that meet a variety of taste and dietary preferences while delivering the whole-body health benefits of the cranberry,” said Ken Romanzi, chief operating officer of Ocean Spray North America, in a statement. “We’re passionate about cranberries and are committed to delivering cranberry products any way consumers want it — from the big, bold taste of Original Cranberry Juice Cocktail to a smoother, milder, low-tart taste and now a reduced-sugar option.”
The Low Tart Cranberry Juice Cocktail delivers a smooth, mild taste that is less tart than Original Cranberry Juice Cocktail, the company says. The juice cocktail contains a combination of cranberry juice and CranEssence, a natural cranberry extract made from sun-ripened cranberries. An 8-ounce serving provides the health benefits of the cranberry and the daily recommended value of vitamin C, it says.
Ocean Spray’s new 2/3 Less Sugar Cranberry Juice Cocktail is a low-calorie beverage that offers the same taste as the original juice cocktail but with two-thirds less sugar, the company says. An 8-ounce serving provides the health benefits of the cranberry, the daily recommended value of vitamin C, 35 calories and 9 grams of sugar, it says.
“Unlike apples, grapes and oranges, cranberries must be sweetened in order to be enjoyed,” Romanzi said in a statement. “Products like Cranberry Juice Cocktail offer dense nutrients as well as many well-documented health benefits that set them apart from other sweetened beverages, and now we’re pleased to offer a reduced-sugar line for individuals interested in limiting their sugar intake.”
New Low Tart Cranberry Juice Cocktail and 2/3 Less Sugar Cranberry Juice Cocktail are available exclusively at Walmart and Kroger stores and banners nationwide.
