Beam expands Skinnygirl Cocktails line

Skinnygirl Cocktails, a brand of Deerfield, Ill.-based Beam Inc., announced new additions to its line of low-calorie cocktails that will be available in May. Joining Skinnygirl Margarita, Sangria and White Cranberry Cosmo, the brand introduced Skinnygirl Pina Colada, Skinnygirl Vodka with Natural Flavors and Skinnygirl, The Wine Collection.

“We are changing the way women think about socializing by rewriting the rules of cocktailing,” says Melanie Hellenga, director of Skinnygirl Cocktails, in a statement. “We are rolling out all of the innovations at once as we are committed to giving ladies everything they want and need to stock a low-calorie, guilt-free bar. We are excited to give more options to Skinnygirl fans around the world.”

Skinnygirl Pina Colada is a cream-free, low-calorie version of an often high-calorie vacation favorite beverage, the brand says. This variety contains fewer than 100 calories in each 4-ounce serving and will retail for $14.99.

Available in Bare Naked, Tangerine, Island Coconut and Cucumber varieties, Skinnygirl Vodkas are made with natural flavors and contain at least 20 percent fewer calories than other vodka brands, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) national nutrient database standard reference for vodkas. The vodkas will be available in May for $21.99.

Skinnygirl, The Wine Collection will launch in California White Blend, California Red Blend and California Rose varieties. The wines contain 100 calories in each 5-ounce serving, which is 15 percent less than other wines, according to the USDA reference comparison. The wines are described as fruit-forward and drinkable with a definitive wine profile, the company says, and have a suggested retail price of $14.99.

The additions build on the foundation started by TV personality and author Bethenny Frankel who initially launched Skinnygirl Margarita. The new additions are organized in various platforms, including Ready to Serve, including the line of cocktails, Ready to Mix, which are the vodkas, and Ready to Enjoy, which encompasses the wine brands, the company says.
