Blanc de BleuPremium Vintage Cellars, a subsidiary of ES/EX Corp., launched its blue-colored 2009 Blanc de Bleu brut sparkling wine in the United States. Made in Northern California, the wine is a blend of Mendocino County chardonnay grapes with blueberry extract for flavor and aroma, the company says. The grapes are picked at lower sugar levels, to lessen the alcohol content, and pressed into stainless steel tanks for primary and secondary fermentation using the charmat method, it says. A bottle sells for $36.
