Last week, Big Red Inc., one of the Top 10 largest soft drink companies in North America, announced its purchase of Portland, Ore.-based Thomas Kemper Soda Co.

Big Red, Austin, Texas, markets Big Red, All Sport isotonic, NuGrape, Nesbitt’s and other mass-oriented brands. Thomas Kemper Soda Co., maker of vintage and all-natural varieties of craft-brewed soda, was spun off from Pyramid Brewing about five years ago.

“The addition of Thomas Kemper products into the Big Red portfolio will strengthen the Thomas Kemper brand and provide opportunities for growth and development far greater than it would as a standalone company,” said Bill Germano, president of the Thomas Kemper Soda Co., in a statement.
