Bacardi U.S.A. Inc.’s Martini Moscato d’Asti sparkling wine is crafted from 100 percent handpicked Moscato Bianco grapes. The variety received the DenominazioneMartini Moscato di Origine Controllata e Garantita (D.O.C.G.) classification, which is a high-quality designation given to the top 1 percent of Italian wines, the company says. After the grapes are harvested, the fruit is crushed and the juices are cooled to 0 degrees Celsius to ensure undisturbed fermentation and to preserve freshness. The slow fermentation process of the grape’s natural sugars is followed by a final filtration step to remove yeasts. The process yields a low alcohol content of 5 percent alcohol by volume, the company says. A 750-ml. bottle has a suggested retail price of $14.99.
