Metal Detector Upgrade
Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. offers an upgrade for its metal detector family. Under the Apex solutions product line, the upgrade extends the operational life and improves ease of use, reliability and performance of Thermo Scientific DSP2, DSP3 and Metal Eliminator, the company says. The Thermo Scientific APEX product line detects all types of metals in beverages as well as food products before they are shipped.

Lift trucks
Raymond Corp. offers new stand-up counterbalanced lift trucks for tough dock applications and complete dock-to-stock needs. The Model 4200 is designed for warehouse systems and other high-productivity applications with load capacities from 3,000 to 5,000 pounds. The Model 4100 is suited for dock applications and has the same load capacity. New additions to the models are quick-disconnect couplings for attachments that lessen the time it takes to change from forks to a drum clamp, slipsheet attachment or other attachment, the company says. The single-axis multifunction control handle includes Raymond’s exclusive four-way switch for sideshifting the forks and tilting the mast. The company also introduced the Model 4400 three-wheel, sit-down electric lift truck for heavy-duty dock operations and higher-speed transport of picked orders.

Case/tray packer
Douglas Continuous Motion Axiom DL case/tray packer uses direct product loading to pack products onto cases or tray blanks at speeds up to 55 cases or trays per minute. The Axiom DL is designed to use less floor space than most continuous motion case/tray packers. In addition, electric motion controls ensure repeatable changeovers. Walk-in frame construction maximizes accessibility to allow personnel to make changeovers and perform maintenance. Additional features such as the Smartrak Steady Stream Infeed and Slipstream pinless metering can be incorporated as well.

Decaser/single filer
A-B-C announced its Model 156 decaser/single filer is now equipped with an Intelligent Control package that automatically monitors container flow and adjusts the decasing speed to ensure a continuous fill rate. The new feature of the three-in-one machine optimizes productivity by harmonizing operations at various line speeds, the company says. The Model 156 operates as a flap opener/positioner, uncaser and container single filer. It can operate at speeds up to 50 cases per minute and runs a variety of container styles, including glass and plastic. It also uncases containers with no drop and single files with minimum bottle-to-bottle contact.

Gun driver
Nordson Corp. introduced a high-performance electric gun driver, called the LogiComm, for all Nordson electric guns. The company says installation is simple; the user selects the gun type from the menu and the corresponding settings load automatically. Also included are advanced diagnostics and LED indicators to simplify set-up and troubleshooting. The LogiComm driver has four trigger inputs to interface to a pattern control, PLC or other device. In addition, it has four or eight-gun outputs with IPX4 water protection and is independently programmable.

Power inverters
Hitachi America Ltd. announced its new X200 Series of inverters. The X200 series volts-per-hertz inverter is a global variable frequency drive solution suitable for fan, pump, conveyor and other general purpose applications. A new Safe Stop feature provides a hardware-based emergency stop function. If AC supply power is lost, the X200 can decelerate and stop the motor using regenerative energy from the load. The X200 also is RoHS-compliant for environmental friendliness.

Liquid nitrogen injector
Vacuum Barrier Corp. added the Linerter II to its Nitrodose line of liquid nitrogen injection equipment. The system is designed to provide discreet dosing of liquid nitrogen to slower capacity lines. The Linerter II features vacuum insulation for the lowest liquid nitrogen consumption, PLC control panel with touch pad controls for simpler operation, slim profile to fit into confined spaces and simplified installation.

Drying system
Paxton Products developed the PowerDry system in response to requests to reduce energy costs through compressed air usage. The system was designed as an easy-to-install replacement for plastic comb, fan nozzles, air jets, disk nozzles, drilled pipe and other common pneumatic blow-off devices. PowerDry generates high-velocity airflows for debris and moisture removal. Its design can withstand washdown procedures so it is applicable for beverage and packaging operations, the company says. The system uses a high-performance Paxton centrifugal blower, and an FDA-compliant hose carries the airflow to a six-nozzle air tube.

Machine improvements
Sidel announced its latest Combi machines now can produce up to 61,200 bottles per hour. Combi machines incorporate blowmolding, filling and capping operations for PET bottles. The new generation of machines feature several models designed for multiserve as well as single-serve segments. The Combi’s design requires no intermediate conveying or accumulation equipment and is compact and energy efficient. It is suited for lightweight bottle production in the cleanest possible production environment, the company says.

Remote-start stretchwrapper
Lantech released the Q-400XT stretchwrapping system with Simple Automation that eliminates the need for an operator to touch the load or machine. The Q-400XT starts with a remote lanyard to automatically attach film to the load, wrap, lock to the pallet and cut the film. It is designed to wrap 35 to 45 pallet loads per hour. In addition, it has a 15-rotations-per-minute turntable engineered to handle loads up to 5,000 pounds. Its Pallet Grip feature attaches a load to the pallet with bottom wraps of film that have been twisted into a cable along the lower edge of the web without blocking the fork truck entry area.

On-premise card stock
LexJet introduced an opaque, super-smooth card stock designed for double-sided UV-curable printing. The DS Blockout has a semi-gloss, smooth surface for photographic image quality and is available in 8- and 11-millimeter thickness. The company says the product can be used for a variety of poster-type display applications, including point-of-purchase materials and window displays. DS Blockout comes in various roll sizes.

Conveyor scale
Cornerstone Automation Systems Inc. released the 700 Series line of conveyor scales that target lower volume semi-manual lines. The CASI 700 Series is the company’s first conveyor scale product line designed to fit into existing gravity conveyors. The line also can be built to custom heights for various applications, including quality control for filling, packing station in-line weighing and other operations where products are either presented or diverted to a gravity conveyor. The system is a low-cost solution that uses easy-to-install off-the-shelf components.

Filling valve
Fogg Filler created a new valve for filling glass bottles, its Polymer Tipped filling valve. The valve has a polymer nose, which can withstand cleaning procedures without cracking or coming off, the company says. The valve can be retrofitted to any older Fogg valves.

Invisible sign
Alert Guard presents the Invisible Sign, which is only visible when the surface is wet. Invisible Sign is available with a stencil and special solution, which provides 35 percent anti-slip protection when the sign is visible. The solution is applied to untreated concrete and the warning only becomes visible when the sign is wet. It eliminates the need for safety cones and other warning signs, the company says.

Tamper-evident shrinkbander
PDC International has patented and commercialized its R series high-speed tamper-evident shrinkbanders. The shrinkbanders run at line speeds up to 1,000 containers-per-minute for 1- to 3-inch bands at heights up to 2.375 inches. In addition, the machine also can apply thin gauge banding materials and are compatible with all petroleum-based and sustainable films. R Series Shrinkbanders are single headed, in-line, tamper evident shrinkbanders that are easy to use, the company says. Changeovers are made easy with a tool-less feature and motorized height adjustment.

Door guard
Steel King’s Steel Guard is available to prevent injuries and lost production time due to forklift accidents. Steel Guard is rugged and manufactured with a three-ribbed design in 11-gauge corrugated steel. The rail systems provide a visual and physical barrier to protect worker areas. They are customizable in length and can be single or double rail in height. In addition to the standard bolted to post system, an optional lift-out/drop-in rail system is available to maintain accessibility to material or equipment. Hach Ultra released its new Orbisphere 510 for three-in-one process monitoring. The instrument offers multi-channel capability for thermal conductivity sensors measuring CO2 and N2 and electrochemical sensors measuring O2. The Orbisphere 510 features up to three sensor inputs, a full-color touchscreen and digital communication tools for data transfers.

Version 2.6 allows vehicle technicians to read trouble codes, diagnose malfunctioning sensors, clear codes and read enhanced parameters. Nilfisk-ALTO Cleaning Systems Inc. released new models of two of its cleaning solution series. The new Poseidon 2 and 3 series mobile pressure washers are available for frequent, low-intensity uses. Both Poseidon models are easy to transport and store and are suitable for small dairy operations, the company says. In addition, the company made available the Alpha Booster 3 & 5 series cold-water stationary pressure washer for high-pressure cleaning solutions. Label printer
Primera Technology Inc. offers its LX400 Color Label Printer for full-color images and photos on labels up to 4,800 dpi. Printed labels are water- and scratch-proof, the company says. The printer can be used to print short runs of product and box labels for limited-edition products and market testing. Wine filtration system
Koch Membrane Systems Inc. launched the KMS Winefilter WF-6 Crossflow Microfiltration Systems for small to medium-sized wineries. The complete systems are designed to offer a single filtration step from fermentation to bottle and are available in two models, the manual WF-6M and automatic WF-6A. Both systems are equipped with KMS Winefilter cartridges that use the newly developed hollow-fiber crossflow microfiltration membrane. Specifically designed for wine, the fiber provides high processing capacity and allows the microfiltered wine to retain color and flavor better than conventional filtration methods. The models can filter up to 20 gallons of wine per minute based on the type of wine. The WF-6 series includes a feed pump, recirculation pump, filtrate magmeter, integral cleaning tank and required safeties that are mounted on a mobile, caster-supported stainless steel frame with PLC and NEMA-4 control panel.

Kinetico Inc. announced a new advancement for water treatment, the Hydrus top-mount, multiport water treatment valve.
